• Quick note - the problem with Youtube videos not embedding on the forum appears to have been fixed, thanks to ZiprHead. If you do still see problems let me know.

Sometimes you really need a hyphen...

Some time back, I saw a list of quite a few domains with that problem. The only one I can remember was for a shop that sold writing instruments, and called itself “Pen Island”. I just now checked that domain name, and it seems to jump through a bunch of redirects to nowhere meaningful; but at the time I received the particular list, and checked it out, it did indeed lead to a seller of writing instruments.

Ah, here it is:

5. There’s the Italian Power Generator company, <www.powergenitalia.com>.

Ah yes; the first four were used in a round of QI a series or two ago. Assigned to Jo Brand, Bill Bailey, Alan Davies and Jeremy Clarkson respectively. A couple of the others also got a mention.

One wonders whether these companies do it on purpose - a form of viral advertising?

About 5 years ago, I was researching video cards. "Via Grafix" was one of the vendors. Unfortunately, our corporate firewall would not allow me to connect to viagrafix.net, and it was explained to me that if I wanted to buy "happy pills" that I should consult my physician instead.
