They don't seek the truth, they just seek validation for their paranoid world view which tells them it must have been a conspiracy because that is how the world works, and random chance/luck and coincidences make the world a much more chaotic place than they would like to accept.

For the woowoos everything that happens, anywhere and at any time, is the result of a covert conspiracy because that explanation gives them a bogeyman to focus on and blame for some other defficiency in their lives.

They will not learn or accept because the truth really is too painful for them.

Life is so much more exciting when you believe in conspiracies, especially when the conspiracy in question apparently does not actually require you to do anything to counter it.

What about the ones who arent just posting on forums and have expert knowledge in certain fields? I would give the example of Bob Bowman.

He has a Phd in Aerospace and Nuclear engineering. He flew 100 missions as a fighter pilot. He was even head of the star wars program. What, in your opinion, are his motives for believing an inside job?

howard hughes was nuts too

just because someone is smart, sucessful, or in a high position doesnt mean they dont have a screw loose (or can develope a screw loose) lol

The point is, wizard, that in any profession there will be people who share the same psychological make-up as the average woowoo.

Jones and wood are perfect examples of this.

Now ask yourself, if jones is wrong and wood is right, where does that leave jones's academic credibility? And vice versa.

The sad truth is that the 911 CT provides an escape for many people.

The problem is that it is at the expense of truth and the feelings of the relatives of those who died that day.

Doesn't it make you sick to see alex jones and the blackshirts ENJOYING their ground zero escapades?

im not saying hes crazy, i dont know much of anythign about bowman, im just saying that all his qualifications and anything he has done in the past has no bearing on his mental state now
 
Skeptics are impossible to satisfy. They ask for an expert or a whistleblower that supports the CT. As soon as one is produced they are declared to be nuts!

so what has bowman published on the subject? what do other experts think of his work?
 
Pardalis that's a bit of a stretch. Every scientist in the world hasn't given their opinion. In fact they shy away from doing so.

Which is part of the reason why we have the scientific method, peer review and the idea of a consensus within the scientific community - although this also deals with much smaller and more common frailties than loose screws.

It's also why we have procedure, precedent, judges, juries and advocates in criminal justice systems; and elections, legal accountability, freedom of speech and plurality in politics.

None of these systems is perfect but they impose standards that aim to uphold the truth. The very fact that the 'truth' movement cannot meet these standards shows it for what it is: an oxymoron.

NIST WTC 7 Preliminary Report

But, you see, it didn't fall straight. The lean was considerable. It only appeared straight from the one video, the one that the Loosers have spread ad nauseum, that was taken on the side away from the damage and the fire. From that perspective, the building leans away, and is impossible to estimate fairly. And yes, there are pictures of WTC 7's aftermath, hitting other buildings.

And woowoos are impossible to satisfy because they cling on to the CT in the face of OVERWHELMING evidence to the contrary and, at the end of the day, will ignore that evidence because it is provided by the 'government'

There are two further impressions I get from CTers regarding 9/11:

1. They are incredibly parochial. They seem to think that the US is the world, and could carry out this murder of it's own people without anyone in the other 4.75 billion who inhabit this planet noticing

2. They have the arrogance to believe that they themselves should be allowed to examine raw evidence from a crime to see if their egos will allow them to agree with the official account. So next time someone is murdered in your town (and five have been murdered very close to my town in recent days :( ) expect not only the police to investigate the crime, but a whole army of amatuer slueths armed with youtube videos and anoraks.

I've asked for no such experts or whistleblowers -- I've asked for their evidence.

I don't care whether Stephen Hawking or Bozo the Clown says it. Let's see if the math adds up. That's all that matters.

That's exactly the difference between critical thinkers and CTists.

CTists are perfectly satisfied with whistleblowers, even if they are bunk.
