Solve this crime!

Good afternoon.
Valentines Day in Canada, like the USA is Feb. 14th. Wouldn't you think the boyfriend would have been in touch with her? How much of a boyfriend was he? I would not have been able to get away with that. I suspect the police are going through her phone records as I type.

The couple had the missing womans car.... her credit card.... and her atm card..... plus they fled their apartment to drive about 14 hours down the trans canada.... it seems very open and shut..... unless they offered her drugs or something in lieu of rent money. If they are looking for a body..... there is a lot of wooded area right around them.

Maybe her Professor gushed so much that she was washed away. The police should check storm drains, and the tops of trees.

I completely agree. Once you've bumped her off its in for a penny in for a pound. It is very probably these two but the fat lady hasn't sung yet.

But we don't know. All the evidence is not in yet. No one had been charged.

I'm suspending judgement.

Bet the BF is involved. 3 months pregnant. Ignores Valentines day....no wait that should have gotten him killed...never mind.

I would imagine the police will interview the people that the girl talked to for her paper. Perhaps it stirred someone up. And yes the proffesor did sound way to into her.

The following day was FA Cup semi-finals day in football, and McLean and Tanner, an avid Nottingham Forest fan, planned to spend the day at home. She studied in the front room while he watched the game on television. Afterwards, the couple were seen by neighbours outside the house at around 4.30pm, which was the last time McLean was seen alive.
Later that evening, Tanner strangled Rachel, then forced her head face down and tied a ligature around her neck.

His team won 4-0, as well. I wonder how he reacted to their loss in the final? :p

To Spurs! In the great Gazzer final in which our hero crocked himself with an insane lunge in the first few minutes. I think the guy was already licked up by the time of the final. If I recall, he killed her because she tried to break off their relationship.

The cab driver has been identified

Halifax police have identified a cab driver they say may have valuable information in the disappearance of Loretta Saunders.

On Saturday police asked for the public’s help in identifying a cab driver who may have been in front of an apartment building on the last day she was seen.

According to police, the cab driver will be questioned by the RCMP’S Major Crime Unit.

Yea, you only need to read Loretta's research to know that aboriginal woman disappear all the time. What's the big deal about one more? It's certainly no reason to get maudlin.

Well, that certainly showed...no wait, no-one has said anything even vaguely like that.

I find it interesting that they're starting to process the two yahoos for the vehicle theft, but no mention of the credit/debit card fraud, and no mention of possible linkages to the actual disappearance. Likewise, they quickly found the cabbie in question, but everyone is keeping mum about what they've learned.

Maybe they are after someone else for the actual disappearance?

I wondered about that. I suspect the only reason we are hearing nothing about other charges is that Halifax is waiting to get them back from wherever they ended up.

Just saw this on the CBC News web site: Loretta Saunders’ case now a homicide investigation. If I had to guess, based on the content of the article, it seems like one of the two people in custody has basically confessed to what really happened and now police are running that down to gather the evidence against the other suspect.

Certainly, the most obvious solution is the one being hinted at in this article:

Investigators have identified suspects in this homicide and they are not looking for anyone else," said Cst. Pierre Bourdages. "This homicide investigation is ongoing and charges are anticipated."

And they're toast.

Officers found her body Wednesday afternoon on Route 2 of the Trans-Canada Highway, west of Salisbury, N.B. Forensic investigators from both Halifax Regional Police and RCMP in New Brunswick are in the process of retrieving her remains. As a result, the highway has been reduced to one lane of traffic near the scene.

Or they have the worst luck in the history of the world. Finding the dead body of the person who's car and debit card you were found in possession of being found along the route to your destination is pretty damning circumstantial evidence.
