Why is it that we can't have a government that is inseparable from the people?


Conservatives claim that government is the problem. What happened to our politicians being held accountable? Why is there a disconnect between politicians and the people who elected them?

Conservatives claim that government is the problem. What happened to our politicians being held accountable? Why is there a disconnect between politicians and the people who elected them?

First politics has become a full time career choice dependent on campaign contributions to keep getting elected and to bring home the money to their constituents. "Government" is ran by bureaucracies that are focused on their own survival, growth and power. Each Government department is given the power to promulgate the rules it will follow and inevitably that means the rules will be focused on getting bigger budgets and headcounts. In my opinion government is out of control of the "people" the moment it becomes single largest employer in the country. I like the Texas model that has the legislature in session for 140 days every other year unless an emergency requires it to be called into session by the Governor.

American Conservatives do not say that. The Constitution describes a government of the people, by the people and for the people. We hold that our current government independent of who is in power, is no longer that.

We say Government is the problem because we do not want to insult the independent voters. Liberals blame corporations, capitalism or the rich because they don't want the people to wise up (Corporations love big government, Liberals love big government).

Politicians are accountable, if they do not bring home the pork they get voted out. I think deToqueville was correct, the American people are now voting for Bread and Games. Plus we are used to politicians lying. Politician jokes are like lawyer jokes, grounded in reality.

There isn't much of a disconnect between Conservative voters and Conservative politicians or between Liberal voters and Liberal Politicians.

The disconnect is between Liberals and Conservatives and the platforms the two sides believe in.

The military voted very heavily for Bush and McCain. This tells you something.

It is also telling that GW Bush's home is more energy efficient than the Goracle.

It makes me laugh when Liberals point to the minorities working on the white rich liberal plantation. Reminds me of the white southern democrats like Jefferson Davis and the arguements they made: They are happy working here.

You can tell a lot about the military and who they vote for. It speaks volumes of the party they consistently vote against. One can almost say the party they vote against represent weak values.

I was just pointing out the hypocrisy of a warmist which tells me what Liberalism is all about. Do as I say, not as I do, give up your money so we don't have to give up ours. That is why Democrats wanna raise taxes, they don't pay theirs!
