Social Issue...Marriage Advice

Wow...lots of responses here. Thanks to all.

I know I'm ready to get married. We're not doing it because anyone is telling us we should, or because society says we should. I want to marry this woman simply because I can not imagine my life without her. She understands me, and I understand her. We laugh at each other's jokes. We fart in front of each other and laugh about it:roll:

We want to have kids, but we're not going to do it for a while. I believe that if you're going to have children, you have to have a complete paradigm shift from a life primarily focused on yourself to primarily focused on your children. We have very similar views on money and credit (she is paying off credit card debt and I am almost debt free). I even saved up 6K and paid cash for the engagment ring so I wouldn't have it hanging over my (our) heads.

I never thought I'd be married before 30, but I truly believe that I am ready for this.

The best piece of advice I've ever gotten was "If you have to think about it, don't do it." I have not had to think about it.

Thanks for all your responses....I've learned a lot. You guys rock. :)

Sounds wonderful, good luck!

Things change so don't worry about looking too far ahead. There are twists and turns in your life that just can't be seen yet.
Having kids can change your perspective in an instant. Make sure you like each other's parents because you'll probably start sounding like them. :)
