So who's sleep deprived?

That said, when I hear about doctors or interns pulling 36 hour shifts I think that's crazy... but when I hear about people getting more than 5 hours of sleep a night at Amaz!ng functions I think that's certifiably insane.

I snuck away early on Friday night to grab a few extra hours of sleep, and got an UNBELIEVABLE amount of crap for it. Learned my lesson. Next year, a constant diet of methamphetamines and lattes.

Hey, Articulett! Thanks for introducing yourself to me. Now I'm just mad I forgot to request a picture with you.

I am desparately envious of your collective lack of sleep.

When I go to TAM7 next year I'll at least be able to sleep on the flight home.

Oh, and ma1ic3? Check the nomination thread.

It is a travesty... no pix means no teasing of the boys with sapphic innuendo.

I am sure you will be appearing in quite a few pix with the myriad of skeptic gentlemen that seemed to be constantly surrounding you.

You have it, phyz.

I just think the 1.5 prostitutes are looking for something other than what you have--namely, the predatory/hungry/desperate look and a fat wallet.

Thanks, Articulett. I guess I also looked like I had business being out at 2:17 in the blessed AM. If I took the camera and shooting vest off and left the tripod at the hotel, maybe my offer count would increase. By 0.5, maybe. But I don't dare try now: never ask a question unless you really want to know the answer. Words to live by.

But, c'mon: a serious pro might have at least offered me the promise of "something better to take pictures of." It's an easy line, a no-brainer.

Anyway, I guess I gotta work on getting a fatter wallet. It was amusing to watch the industry in action (true--I don't get out much).

What kinda sucked was the thought of how much tougher it would have been to go out for a solo wee hours photo shoot of Vegas lights & water without having the Y-chromosome. What year is this?

I got back to Maine this afternoon, after three hours of airplane sleep. I went from the airport directly to my office to make a token appearance, then drove home to discover my power was out.

It was down on one of the bridges to Excalibur. But tell me more about the 0.5 at O'Shea's...

Well, if Winslow posted here, he could fill in the details. Needless to say, she was the perfect height for certain sexually stimulating activities. :)

Recently I experimented going to work after getting absolutely no sleep at all for the first time in my life. There's gotta be nothing more annoying than lying in bed completely awake and unable to sleep at all for THE ENTIRE FRIGGIN' NIGHT. It's like there's a goddamn lighthouse inside your head, spinning all night, always vigilant.

Yeah, that wasn't fun, gotta tell ya.

But..... that's life. You live and learn.
At least we lived.

I survived teaching my class this morning. At the end of the day I took a brief nap and feel totally refreshed. Now if I can only work through the mountain of post-TAM correspondence that I racked up over the last few days...

Oh yes; that usually involves an additional fee. I think it was the Dakotan philosopher Al Swearingen who said, "Specialty acts..."

I had a call on my answering machine asking me to come in at 7pm tonight for work (one of our co-workers committed suicide two weeks ago and we need to cover his shifts). Thankfully I got to bed about 8pm Mon. night, woke up about 10pm and was back asleep by shortly after midnight. Up again at 5am this morning and if I get to bed by 10am, I should have no problem waking up at 5pm and going in to work for a 12 hour shift that I had done for 11 years before our schedule change last October.

Sunday, I flew from LV to Denver for a meeting. I got into my hotel downtown, ate some dinner at a nearby restaurant, and went to bed rather early - 11 pm!! Since my meeting was not until 10:30 a.m. Monday morning, I stayed in bed and read for several hours! After my meeting I flew back to Houston and didn't get home until about 10 p.m.

As I normally get up about 5 a.m., this felt totally decadent. Between Friday, when I bought them, and midnight last night, when I finally relaxed enough to go to sleep, I read both of Matthew Chapman's books, Trials of the Monkey Boy and 40 Days and 40 Nights, which was his coverage of the Dover trial. Of course, mine are both autographed.

Me!
Tuesday morning is the "all-hands staff meeting" at 0800. It's hard enough to stay awake when I'm not sleep deprived, but somehow I managed. I did magic squares a la Art Benjamin whenever I felt boredom setting in.

I don't think there was a night where I got to bed before 4 am.

My flight got home at 2:30 last night. Thanks, US Air. I slept until 2 this afternoon.
