SkeptiCrashing: Sylvia Browne at TAM!!

Well, not quite. But Sylvia Browne is following in the footsteps of John Edward and is appearing at the Excalibur in Las Vegas, from June 21 - 26, 28.

And, as you know, TAM6 is from June 19-22.

So..... (rubbing hands together, cackling)

I am proposing a SkeptiCrash: Sylvia Browne will have a group of skeptics in the crowd, on Sunday, June 22nd, at 4pm, after TAM6 is over.

Ticket price: $137.50 - $82.50 (May shows - June shows aren't available yet)

We can get tickets as a group, or we can get tickets individually.

I'm going. Robert Lancaster is going.

Who's coming with us?

I should emphasize that we would go to observe - to get a first hand impression, so we can honestly say that we know what we are talking about.

There will not be anything that can even remotely be considered heckling. Polite conversations with the audience.

I'm not giving that... thing any of my money!

If we could get in for free, in a manner that is legal and ethical, I would. But, I ain't puttin' in any money for tickets to line the pockets of that scumbag. Forget it!

Besides, if she catches on to our plans, she is likely to cancel the show. Even if we promise to only observe.

Fair enough.

......and that would be a problem, how? :)

I am attending, but only under the agreement that we are not there to be disruptive.

I get email from people asking me if I have ever seen Browne in person. I am attending this performance primarily so I can tell these people that yes, I have.

I think that's the best approach. Heckling's not going to help anyone.

You might see if you can engage any of the audience members after the show who had a reading, just to get their immediate impressions.

I think it's great that you are going Robert. And you can NOT attend alone! She and her staff certainly know what you look like!

I don't want you to be harrassed!

Claus, keep a close eye on our hero!

I'd go, but you know the reason that I would either just break down, or stand up and scream at the woman. It's safer for HER if I don't attend!!!

Rob, maybe you should have kept the fact that you're going under wraps? I'm thinking of PZ Myers getting kicked out of the Expelled screening (different circumstanes of course).

The less notice they have of your attending the better chance you can get in. (I admit, I may be being overly cautious, btw.)

Good luck and don't look directly in her eyes as her gaze causes flesh to turn to stone.

Will you issue people with barf bags? Tranquilizers? I don't know if I would be able to sit through her show, but I would be interested in scoping the scene outside the show before and after. See what wares she might be hawking.

Excellent! We need people outside, too.

You bet.

....what, I'm not your hero? :p ;)

Better check your PM instead. There's some good news there. :)

It would have been better to make your plans to attend, in secret, than announce it on a public forum, if you really think it is important to attend one of these things.

I can understand Robert's "professional" obligation to attend such a performance. But, making these plans in public, and calling it "SkeptiCrashing" does not seem like a wise strategy. (Even if you promise not to be disruptive. Remember: We "atheists" are the least trusted group in America, from the crowd's point of view.)

Ugh, I had the misfortune of suffering through her ridiculously disgusting snoozefest awhile back and have no desire to relive the experience (much less with the knowledge I'd be lining her pockets with that much cash). Best of luck, and I do hope those of you who go make the absolute most of it.

I considered that, but I prefer to keep this one out in the open, especially if we are noticed. We've made it clear that we are going, and that we are going peacefully. The only thing that separates us from the crowd is that we don't think Sylvia can talk to dead people.

If that is a problem for Sylvia, then she has a big PR stinker on her hands.

As for calling it "SkeptiCrashing"...I had to find something that began with a C and it just came naturally. While not "gate crashing", we certainly aren't expected either. Which is the whole point.

Incidentally, non-atheists are also welcome.

And pigs might fly. ;)

You do realize that you just seriously pithed off Claus. :D

Seriously, it's good that you guys dare to get some first hand experience with teh claws. It's just a show, so it won't let you see behind the curtains, but having seen her doing her shtick in person certainly adds even more credibility to your work.

Harry, by the time I got to the thread, the cat was out of the bag. And even had my name not been mentioned in the OP, Browne's people would likely assume that I would be going. So I made the best of it by making my stance on the whole thing very clear.

And of course, if I am treated badly and/or not allowed in, that will of course be written about on the site.

They will just claim that if such a dark entity such as yourself were to attend her show, you would undoubtedly stifle her powers. This will also explain her dismal performance if you are allowed in.

Less party and golf money in Vegas… I will have to get second hand reports. Good luck being civil!!

Well, I'm not up for spending my own money to see her, but I'd be willing to go stand in line before you get there, and see if she gets us as confused as some skeptics do!

And I'd also be willing to bring a video camera, in case you get "Myered".
