You look at what works, and you have to ask: why am I doing what doesn't?
I would guess it's because it's (somehow) easier to do what you hope is most effective rather than figure out and then do what is in reality most effective.
It's a very common problem, it seems.
It has nothing to do with power-point presentations and praise bands, but everything to do with the substance of what is presented.
I think it has quite a lot to do with powerpoint presentations and wristbands. People quickly get caught up in "Look at the slides!" or "See my bracelet- it proves my faith" that they never actually get the message that medium wants to convey.
