The funny thing about it was that they had shown both semifinal matches in the Del Mar the previous Wednesday. Every TV was tuned to the World Cup and the sound was playing through the speakers in the ceiling. When I told the guy on Sunday, he said they would have never done that, and they couldn't get sound through the ceiling speakers. It was like I was in the Twilight Zone.

I have been to many TAMs with my daughter and have dropped in some parties, but hot, loud, smoky, crowded scene is not for me.

I came very close to bringing my 17 year old daughter. But she needs to get a summer job. My son cannot afford to take time off work. I am also not keen on loud smoky scenes either.

If others feel like you, we may be able to find a place, other than smoky Del Mar, for a dainty cup of tea! Just kidding about a cup of tea. I will look you up on Saturday night in the Del Mar and start a party somewhere else.

I hope we can. Though I need to limit my doses of spiked tea. I can't handle my liquor since my sister last visited, and my liver has not forgiven me for that!
 
I absolutely LOVE the idea of a senior skepchicks get together. Count me in!
 
oh I've been there and done that! Count me in!
We should hire a room and have foot massages or something....though I'm not sure you can really hire a person for a real massage in Vegas. You know we'd end up with some male stripper and frankly, I'm up for a pedicure or something.

You can always program your VHS/DVD/whatever recorder device to watch it later. Last year I did it many days in advance, and the recorder did its job wonderfully.

Gringos are not interested in F1, so the Del Mar TV news won't spoil the fun by telling the outcome.

Possibly...but it would be kind of awkward going up to a skepchick you know and putting them on the hotseat as to why one doesn't have an invite... knowing another person you know already has their's.
I don't like going to parties I have to force myself into. (Not that I could.)

I am hoping some of the ideas bounced around here and other threads pan out. I could go see a movie with a few friends, or hang out at the Del Mar which is always fun. Another thread was even hypothesizing about doing a Rifftrax screening of "Plan 9 from Outer Space (or similar movie) if a room and a screen could be procured.

Wherever it is, I will be bringing Goldschlager and extra glasses!

How about we talk at the next Granite State Skeptics in the Pub to see if we can have one of the rooms in the conference area (no smoking!) for champaign and strawberries and watch a movie or just chat. I do a good Japanese massage, if anyone needs a backrub. Does any one do a pedicure? I can bring a foot soaker.

Suggesting that isn't the same as doing anything about it. I'm pretty sure the casino isn't going to decide to do this on their own and let us know about it -- especially since they can use that screen to show the Harry Potter movie opening that weekend and rake in more $$$.

You are correct. The South Point theater is run by Cinemark and they would not rent a theater during a prime showing time (an evening, especially on a weekend) when they can run "Harry Potter." That wouldn't even be a local theater management decision - Cinemark's home office would not approve it.

Well, it looks as though my usefulness in this particular thread has been that of a cist growing under an eyelid. So, perhaps I should just focus my attention on threads where I can be of better service.

Sorry about the mess with the Wowbagger Party. My co-organizer tried to warn me that it would be a bad idea informing the unworthy masses about it.
