Skepchick Party TAM9

Thank you for the update, Bug Girl.

If there is one, I would like to go, but if there isn't, or it is very exclusive, I will understand.

It has never been an exclusive party.
However, people who are ******** *cough wowbagger cough* or people who are creepy have been asked to leave parties in the past.

Sadly, my work schedule means that I haven't made a single one of the parties, and probably won't make this one either. Also, frankly, TAM is too expensive for me to attend.

The skepchicks are a group of really laid back folks.
I'm not sure where the idea came from that we're unapproachable!

And, most importantly, make sure at least one "Weird Al" Yankovic song is played. You can't have a real party without at least one "Weird Al" Yankovic song!

Only one?! If there's only going to be one Weird Al song at your party then I am no longer interested.

Ah, but how many guests do you expect to make use of their invitations?

Given the fact that the invitations were designed to double as bird cage liner, I think a lot more people are going to make use of them than you think!!

One is the bare minimum requirement. Any more than that is desirable, but not strictly required.

How about we do a TAM flash mob somewhere in Vegas late Saturday night? I suggest one of the following possibilities:

1. the Del Mar Lounge
2. Downtown
3. the Spearmint Rhino

My vote is for the Del Mar, or maybe Steak and Shake.

TAM Inside Joke: "Rhino" is Latin for "nose".

The Del Mar is always busy during TAM when no one's talking, so there's really no change there.

Too bad. After waiting since joining I am finally able to go. Though after seeing the photos of the last two Skepchick parties I was pretty sure if there was one, I was not going.

I think I may prefer a gathering of skeptical women of an earlier generation, those of us who grew up when telephones had dials and you had to get up to turn a dial to change television channels. Many of us have children who can attend TAM (I almost brought two of mine), and some who became engineers, scientists, docter, etc when it was still unusual for women.

It looks like I'll be spending Saturday night at the Del Mar or the Spa.

I have a child who attends TAM with me, although he hasn't been allowed to attend the skepChicks party... He probably could this year, though.

Well, I suppose we can agree to disagree on what the bare minimum is. Now where's my invite? My birds would enjoy a new floor.

I think it would be lovely if the skepchicks had at least a little get together where say people could meet them. Though the Del Mar is always full...there are other cute little bars and such around South Point. It would be neat if say the skepchicks could say "we'll all be here, come by and say hello!" for all their fans. Or "come by and buy us a drink!" (hey, it's the skepchicks!)

I already have suggested the "gay skeptics" get together not be at the Del Mar because, it's always full of skeptics 24/7 and really, we'd all just get even more confused about TOby and Mr.Pinky.

Del Mar is just fun all the time...and as long as I can stand the smoke I like to hang there.

Also I did bring my daughters to a skepchick party once. Nothing horrible happened and the therapy wasn't that expensive. Those that follow me on facebook KNOW about the photographic evidence of what happened. What can I say, it was tasty.

Unfortunately the Spa closes early for Vegas. I think around 7 or 8 pm.

I have been to many TAMs with my daughter and have dropped in some parties, but hot, loud, smoky, crowded scene is not for me.

If others feel like you, we may be able to find a place, other than smoky Del Mar, for a dainty cup of tea! Just kidding about a cup of tea. I will look you up on Saturday night in the Del Mar and start a party somewhere else.

As kitynh said, there are other smaller bars about. The one next to Baja Miguel's is set above the casino floor, and is usually pretty quiet, so it would probably be good for your tea, or tequila, or whatever... :D

It's also a nice place to watch the World Cup final when the idiot bartender in the Del Mar won't turn it on.

A fine selections of beers, as I recall from last year. :)

At least they knew what that was. No-one had heard of the British Formula 1 Grand Prix at all. (I'll be missing that again this year.)

Ah, that's the beauty of picking the Del Mar - no one expects it - so we will have the element of surprise! And the fact that most people won't even have to leave their seats to participate? That is ruthless efficiency.
