Skepchick Party TAM9

I do not think that there is really any need for a big Forum/Skepchick party anymore. TAM Five was my first TAM, so I never was able to experience TAM at the Stardust, but there were no central meeting places/watering holes where the everybody who was in the mood to socialize could meet on an ongoing basis at the Riveria or the Flamingo, certainly not to the extent that we have seen with the Del Mar Lounge at the South Point. IMHO, the Del Mar has become what amounts to a continuous Forum Party during the entire length of TAM, and even before and after.
 
I challenge anyone to attempt to overtake my killer Tetris skills.
 
I wish I could go to a Skepchick party, they've always sounded awesome, but I guess I'll have to make do with Penn's Private Rock n Roll Doughnut and Bacon Party for my first TAM.

I am looking forward to that party, but I have a feeling it will be very crowded. But,fun I hope.
 
I wouldn't plan on there being a Skepchick party this year, at least not as there was in years past.

Every year more and more people show up, and this means the party takes more and more effort to pull it off. Not just that, but the grief they get for one thing or another increases every year, too. It's my impression that several of the Skepchicks are a wee bit burned out.

It's a huge logistical (and, increasingly, legal) challenge.
No decisions have been made as yet.

See? When you actually ask someone who might tangentially know, you get answers ;p
 
I hear that they had a real problem trying to control their lothario bartender last year.

The solution to this part is simple: Limit the number of tickets!

They already did that for two years in a row, I believe.

If there were still too many people to handle at the party, then lower the number of available tickets to something you think you can handle. It would suck for those who try to register too late. But, that's life. And, it's not like there's nothing else to do in that city.

Well, at least Wowbagger is practicing what he preaches, and limiting his party to just one ticket-holder.
 
This thread is right next to the Bangladesh woman cuts off 'attacker's' penis thread in the recent threads list. Just be careful, that's all I'm sayin'...

That reminds me. They should also:

  • Provide a good variety of beverages
  • Make sure the A/C is in working order
  • Take reasonable precautions to make sure no terrorists are invited
  • Choose a location where no one will complain about the noise, to the cops
  • And, most importantly, make sure at least one "Weird Al" Yankovic song is played. You can't have a real party without at least one "Weird Al" Yankovic song!

They do not need to provide Tim-Tams. I can bring some along, as can anyone else who happens to live either in Australia or near New York City.
