Yep we are, and look how long they anticipate the trial lasting. What do you suppose the estimated cost will be to end up with either the death penalty or life in prison as a verdict?
 
Me personally, I don't care what it takes to prosecute him. If it costs a billion to convict and confine him for life, or put him to death, I'll chip in $10 a week for the rest of my life.

Oh, but I forgot article 11: When a trial is supposed to be overly expensive, the defendent must immediately be found guilty.

And how many $$$ did the US and media spend on the obviously guilty Richard Jewell from the Atlantic Olympics bombing? He was obviously guilty. Should've just done away with that expense. Except--oh wait--he wasn't guilty! OMG!!
 
None that I know of since Jewel was never charged.

None that you know of? So it's your contention that the FBI spent $0 on investigating Jewell?

Just how many dollars should the FBI be expected to spend on investigating a subject before your calculus should declare them summarily guilty by overspending public monies on investigation?

Btw, it's Jewell, not Jewel. Jewel Kilcher was never charged with terrorist activities (afaik).
 
I have an "L" that likes to stick when typing fast. Whatever money was spent by the media wasn't tax dollars, the FBI was doing what it considers to be it's job, although I think they go a bit overboard sometimes based on what little you ever hear about. Maybe we should lobby for more checks and balances monitoring the FBI budget.

Why don't we have a system where, if a police officer or prosecutor declares under oath that they "know a person to be guilty of fill in blank" that person goes to jail.
