I am talking across the board although I gave a choice of, "medical use only".
I do realize that in some states medical marijuana is already legal.
Obama said during his townhall internet meeting that he wouldn't consider this.
I guess I can why, although its too bad.

You didn't have an option for, "De-criminalize but do not legalize." I think simple possession should stop being a felony, simply because it's ridiculous that being drunk as a skunk is only illegal if you're driving, but being stoned means federal charges.

On the other hand, I understand the "we don't want to encourage people rotting their minds" perspective, so I think medical use and de-crim is the way to go. Too much Puritan in American culture to go for straight legalization, at least at this time.

YMMV, of course.

Yes.

Marijuana has been around longer than all of you and it will be around after all of you are dead. It was only illegal because rockefeller oil saw it as a threat to their oil profits.

An interesting note: Marijuana has a toxicity level of 1, where it would take 5 pounds of it for it to be fatal, whereas Nicotine is in the same category as cyanide, jimsonweed, and phosphorous.

So if you don't legalize marijuana it will be the end of humanity you retards!

There needs to be a decriminalization option.

Look up the legal definition.

Actually, I don't get the decriminalization thing. Won't that still allow drug cartels to flourish and make regulation impossible?

If hemp was never renamed marijuana and demonised the way it was, a good percentage of the petrochemical industry would never have arisen.

Hemp is good for making so many things, and most importantly, causes zero pollution, it's ridiculous that it's illegal just because a couple of varieties can make you a bit stoned.

But this means that you still can't legally produce it. This implies that there will still be huge black market profits, violence, police corruption etc.

I really really don't understand why people are so afraid of this. Put it in the liquor store with a reasonable tax and just solve the problem once and for all.

Can you clarify how you think decrimilization will change anything for the vast majority of people? Anyone who wants it can already get the stuff. It's more about getting rid of the black market economics over a very safe flower.

A CNN poll said that ONLY 33% of Americans are in favor of complete legalization and taxation of cannabis.

How could that be correct???

Out of interest, do pharma companies produce Marijuana in the Netherlands and is quality controlled as to strength/quality etc (can think of worse jobs :D ) and the whole process taxed etc?

I don't see the harm to society if it was legalised, however would vote no if this was the "thin end of the wedge" to legalising certain other drugs.

Maybe the rest were too high to answer? Just kidding I don't smoke pot anymore, but I did when I was younger. The pot today is much stronger than when I was young, puts me right out.ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

I do remember Jimmy Carter saying he would try to legalize pot in the '76 election. What a liar. Any way I am 100% in favor of its legalization. Smok'em if you got 'em.

Oh, that 33% part, I think that was the same number of people who supported the American Revolution way back when, so don't be discouraged.

Yes, those who use it - use and illegally buy it anyway.
Legalize and Tax it to make something positive out of the situation. Or send it's users to the Netherlands.

I will vote yes until someone can meaningfully distinguish mary jane from booze.

I've never been in a fight with a pot head or someone high on pot, I wish I could say the same for those who consume liquor.

No. It's still technically illegal but widely tolerated if for personal use only.
It comes from illegal sources and is not produced on state farms
(although they were considering that for a while). The psillocybin mushrooms
and similar crap are now banned and they crack down heavily on hard drugs.

Perhaps surprisingly, most cloggies don't actually indulge very much. Most of
the "coffee-shops" are patronised by bloody tourists and immigrants. It
appears to be that when the stuff is readily available it tends to lose its
appeal.

Some problems:

1) You didn't include the Planet X option, which automatically invalidates any and all conclusions you might wish to draw from this poll.

2) In most states, if a blood test reveals that you have 0.08% alcohol in your blood, you are legally intoxicated. Could you please tell me what the level of THC in one's bloodstream should be for one to be considered legally intoxicated?
