In your opinion. If I wanted, I could cobble together some "teachings of Jesus" that encouraged mean-spirited behavior. It's all subjective, which is why it's pointless to criticize Christians' behavior on the basis of their supposed Christianity.

I disagree. Most Christians do believe that turning the other cheek and doing good to those who despitefully use you are hallmarks of their Christianity. We don't need to define true Christianity to know that many Christians don't live up to their own morals. I don't know of a single Christian group whose basis is "hate they neighbor". Christ didn't say get along with people. He said that one is commanded to love his neighbor and to return good for evil.

If you could show me a Christian group predicated on hate or spite I would be more amenable to your argument.

Well selected!!!! But, with no offense, I actually do believe that, at best, G. Bush the younger is what the politer used to call "slow". And they did not mean he was not a fast runner by that.

As a matter of fact - and with no lying or joking on this, The school I worked at for several years before my recent retirement had a class (it is a high school) of developmentally disabled children. Because I liked them and stopped when possible to talk with them, hold the door for them when they were going to get/bring back their lunches and generally made nice I saw a lot of their normal behaviors. Excepting those with worse/worst language deficits, carrying on conversations with them demonstrated speech patterns and difficulties quite similar to GB's. I freely admiit that developmentally disabled is not my field but .........

Yes, but if they are going to hold themselves up as paragons of virtue I do very much think it appropriate to criticize them based on their religion. It's all BS and we ought not think that because they cannot find coherent meaning from their Bible that we ought to excuse them for that. The vast majority do in fact believe in turning the other cheek. I'll bet even Westoborough believes that they just have some messed up ad hoc rationalization.
