In my business I sometimes come upon folks who want to know where to find a dowser, or who have used a dowser. A large percentage of these people, when told that dowsing is ineffective nonsense, will defend dowsing with a religious zeal. Even in the light of obvious failure ("Well, the first few spots the dowser picked turned out to be dry, but when he finally picked a good spot, it was a good spot!")
