Sharing rooms at TAM7

I didn't see a thread like this, so figured I'd start one, for all the people like me who are trying to cut down costs on attending TAM7. So, would anyone like to split the cost of a room at South Point?

I'm a woman, so would prefer to room with other women. I can easily sleep on the floor (and often do), so if you've already got the beds in your room taken, consider whether there's floor space left over! The more people, the cheaper my share will be, after all. Right now, the plan is to stay from Thursday till Sunday (three nights), but I haven't quite given up on arriving on Wednesday (cost will definitely be a factor in whether I take the plunge).

I absolutely need: 1) nonsmoker roommates (due to allergy), 2) quiet roommates (in order to recuperate)

As this is my very first TAM (yay, finally!), and I do not drive, do not drink, and have very little spare cash - I do not absolutely need, but would like: roommates who will chat with me.

Anyone interested, or who'd like to ask further questions to ensure that I'm not dangerous, can post here or PM me.

Sharing rooms

Heh. i was about to start a thread like this myself. I"m also looking for a girl to share a room with! I'm willing to split costs! (Well, i guess that's kinda the point of this) I don't have a room bought yet, so anyone that does and is looking for a roommate should let me know.. I get there early thrusday and leave sunday (ticket is already bought).

Sorta the same thing:

However, if you'd promise that you ARE dangerous you might find more takers. :halo:

Thanks for finding the thread! I obviously didn't look back far enough. However, since that one is moderated, I think I'll stick with this one.

As you might guess, I am very ashamed and saddened at not having proclaimed myself to be dangerous. However, something tells me that in this company, it might be a bad idea to suddenly start claiming that I'm really a black-belt ninja who has been raised by a tribe of highly dedicated monk assassins in Nepal, who has also had half my skeleton replaced by titanium (complete with Wolverine-style claws) after a freak accident, and who now flips out anytime someone says the word "evidence" due to PTSD from the self-same accident. Even had I done so from the beginning, folks might not be intimidated enough to avoid saying the key word.

:-)

L3on3ss4, I'll definitely keep you in mind, but let's also see who else responds, since I haven't bought a room.

Well, if you decide to start claiming that, you can stay in my room!

::wonders whether to adopt a titanium ninja disguise::

PRO - A black ninja suit would be stylish.
CON - My marked preference for bright colors and skirts. That part of the gi that comes below the waist only wishes it could be a skirt.

PRO - There must be a store somewhere that sells applique claws.
CON - Long metallic claws on the ends of arms that, despite visits to the gym, still resemble ordinary flab 100% more than they resemble coiled steel cable under the skin - might just look out of place.

PRO - I already have an accent, and I'm sure I could torture grammar in order to deliver pearls of vague wisdom with just a little practice.
CON - It's not the right accent, and many have the way of wisdom not found through actually not obscure wishing to be and their brain's knots wishing to avoid.

I would also suggest that if you see other members on the board looking for rooms, and you're looking for a room, to PM them and let them know personally. I've got two roommates already that way!

I have a non-smoking two-bed room Wednesday through Saturday night which I'm willing to share with somebody for three or four nights.

I'm male (and intend to stay that way through TAM), 30 years old. Well behaved but I do intend to make the most out of my time, in other words expect me to go to bed quietly but late.

PM me if you're interested.

Selfishly bumping my own thread - is everyone absolutely certain they have no floor space to spare, where I could rest my head the nights between Thursday and Sunday? Hardwood, carpet, or linoleum - I'm demanding perhaps, but not picky :-)

We have one suite next door at the Grandview with floorspace at least. The woman in the couch bed smokes currently though, but she wouldn't be allowed to smoke in the building.

Thanks, Silly Green Monkey! Just one concern, though - how far away, walking time, is the Grandview? Both heat and bright sunlight are fairly painful for me, so I'd like to minimize exposure.

We stayed there last TAM, and walked over to the Southpointe for breakfast, was under five minutes (and part of that was in shade).

That's doable, so, barring any other kind person stepping forward, it looks like I'm set. Thank you!

Could you tell Argentina not to cry for you?

Sure thing, as long as I get to ask you at the same time why you felt the need to be rude. I realize very well my health problems are annoying, since they annoy me most of all, on a daily basis, but I do what I can to deal with them.

Your reply makes no sense.

Scrut, I believe the confusion lies in Argentina being hot and sunny and the earlier post indicates a health problem.

Avita, Scrut was referring to the fact that your name is similar to the titular character's in the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical 'Evita' who sang, "Don't Cry for me, Argentina."

So... misunderstanding.

My work here is done.

I agree, He wasn't being rude (at least, not deliberately), he was just being Scrut. As evidence, I present this other recent post:

I once learned, the hard way, that you should never joke about people's names, not even screen names. I once made a (mild) joke about a funny screen name somebody had on a forum, and then it wasn't so funny anymore when it turned out that it was actually her real name..

i have a room to share

I have a room booked, but wouldn't mind sharing to cut down expenses.
female, nonsmoking, pretty quiet (but I might snore).
You're welcome to contact me at embulf@yahoo.com and we could chat some more.
