Serena Williams' comments on rape victim

Why? It has nothing to do with this thread or what i am responding to.

It is directly relevent to the crux of Ms. Williams' statments. It could not pertain more to this thread.

As to what you responded to, it appears you are only interested in simple answers to a ridiculously simplistic distillation of the topic.

Errr... nope. Cop-out of the day.
Indeed. And not unexpected.

So, no new thread? Expected.

I don't think that it is directly relevant to the crux of Ms Williams' statement.
She seemed to think that the rapists had been harshly treated, that the victim was at least partly responsible and that her virginity (or lack of it) had something to do with her being violated, for some reason.

The one point that people seem to have focused upon is by far the least controversial, in my opinion.
I think that everyone would agree that it's both a bad idea to get so drunk that you've got no idea where you are or what's going on and to take advantage of someone in that situation.
I also think that everyone would agree that raping someone who's not in a position to consent has nothing to do with why they're in that position and it doesn't lessen the blame upon the rapist/s if the victim's made a poor initial choice.
