September Stundie Nominations

according to a Holocaust denier named shyster, reading books is proof that one's opponents are gatekeepers (reply #2)

When the gate keepers, having had the advantage of reading all the books, lie and deny repeatedly, one knows with what one is dealing.

Nice argument about why you should never post a source to back up your claim.

I used to put up lots of links until I realized I was being asked for them so they could be followed up on and destroyed. My claim is that TNT produces light waves all the way into the x-ray spectrum of frequencies and I am your source. Now, go ahead and try refuting that with a counterclaim that makes sense.

From the DI forums of course.

I can barely keep track of this post from 9/11-investigator long enough to point out what's wrong with it.

Do you remember the video where a flower pot filled with thermite burns through a car motor bloc in seconds? The same amount of nano-thermite reacts in milliseconds rather than seconds. And besides the nano-thermite was used not to melt steel but to pulverize concrete, a different thing altogether. It was regular thermite/thermate that was used to melt steel and weaken the structure.

So nanothermite is much better at burning through steel than regular thermite, which is why they didn't use it to burn through steel. But for some reason they decided to use the nanothermite, which is better for melting steel, to pulverise the concrete, which they didn't need to do, then they could use the regular thermite, which isn't as good at melting steel, for melting steel. After all, why use one kind of thermite when you can do something useless even worse with two?

September is here and we can probably anticipate a nice helping of Stundilicious, Stundiable Stundies. Remember that a good Stundie is not just about Conspiracy Theories but is funny and concise.

OK, here's a honorable nomination of Stundie himself, who has created a funny and concise term which i'm planning to steal on occasion - the joke is on you:

I shall see your response before I wade in with the rest, because your response to these 1st failing few minutes will let us know whether you are serious or pantomime debunking.

hahahahahahahahaha!!! :D

Because the first thing that opponents of the administration's health care ideas would do is to . . . go after the green energy czar?

. . . for . . . something that's not related to health care or green energy?

. . . which . . . is actually true?

This reminds me of when 9/11 truthers used to like to claim that every TV show that featured them in any way was some sort of hit piece. You would say, 'But it's a documentary' and they would say 'Exactly!'.

I am somewhat saddened this month to present that rarest of prizes, the thing twoofers fantasize about but can never nail down ("This n00b thinks fire can weaken steel, roflcopter!") the nearly mythological debunker stundie.

Drakieus once caught a telescope THHIIIIIIIS BIG!

Maybe I can clear something up here if CT's would take the time and money but...

...I currently possess a high-powered telescope in my backyard, purchased when my father left the military, and with it if the Moon is full and close enough, you can see the American Flag and the base of the Lunar Lander used to settle on the moon.

So I don't know what the big deal is. They landed on the moon - yay. So did the Russians at one point.

What's the big deal?

While I would agree that "pantomime debunking" does happen now and then, there is also real debunking, and I doubt that Stundie has the intellect to discern them...

Egad, that would be some nice telescope. Say about like this with roughly three orders of magnitude better resolution. From his backyard. (Also laughing at "when the Moon is close enough...")

Those are some mighty fine e-muscles, indeed.

So because there are Black Ops with a Black Budget. And no one could know what goes on there. Therefore 9/11 was an inside jobby job? Filling an empty hole with conjecture are we? That's your evidence?

At least I'm trying to put something substantial into the hole, rather than trying to pretend the hole isn't there.

You heard it here first, folks. "Conjecture" = "Something Substantial".

From Newton's Bit facebook thread, Bryan wrote in reference to the Madrid Tower:

Considering the concrete melts at a lower temperature than steel has anyone considered that the steel frame work on that building was substandard or even completely finished?
or are all of you structural experts on building codes in Spain?
and what was the concrete reinforced with...steel maybe!

Another supposedly new poster is exploring new areas of irrationality.

I'm putting together a little memorandum noting how you have been misusing these forums.
How an anti free speech activist is using this as a platform against constitutional rights, how there is absolutely no discourse on these pages and how you - hiding behind your avatars - are actively undermining the American constitution. There is only one conspiracy here - and it is of your making.

Apparently we're preventing free speech by... er... posting stuff on an internet forum. How does that one work again?

NGC actually used the term "truthers" to refer to the objectivists, a silly-sounding label used as shorthand within the community of 9/11 skeptics, but not one that they use when speaking to critics. The use of that insider label was one of the many appeals to emotion rather than reason used in the show. To help understand this, compare the use of the "N" word by African-Americans themselves, as opposed to its use by people who are not members of that group and instead are hostile toward its members. The repeated use of the word "beliefs," more appropriate to emotional and religious contexts, rather than the word "conclusions," which carries a connotation of rationality, is another example of this kind of manipulation.

No more 'T' bombs, mmmkay? kthxbye.
