Advocates ask CNN to help tone down Republicans' rhetoric on immigrationA large coalition of immigrant rights groups is calling on the moderators of this week's Republican presidential debate to help tone down the heated rhetoric on illegal immigration that has dominated the GOP primary race.http://www.latimes.com/nation/politics/trailguide/la-na-trailguide-09152015-htmlstory.html Scroll down
In an open letter to CNN, which is hosting the debate, 62 pro-immigrant organizations from around the country voice concern about "the increasing hatred and vitriol being directed towards both people of color and the immigrant community by certain presidential candidates."
"The upcoming presidential debate will be a test as to how much leeway can be given to the language of hate," the letter says, while calling on moderators "to help bring back a civil debate."

The letter cites a recent attack on a Latino man in Boston in which the suspect may have cited Trump as an inspiration. That and other recent episodes are evidence that "these harmful words will turn into violence against our communities," the letter says.
They are advocating censorship. I don't recall any hateful rhetoric towards immigrants in the previous debate. Freedom of speech is fine unless people are saying something that they don't approve of."increasing hatred"

Thanks for your corrections, will they be acknowledged?Just to play Devil's Advocate....
The article never asserted that the hateful speech occurred during the debate, the letter asserted that it occurred during campaigning.
I saw nothing in the article indicating that they wanted a prior restraint on speech. They asked that the moderators help tone down heated rhetoric. For instance, if a candidate says "Mexico is sending rapists here," a moderator could ask for a citation or source for that claim. Such an approach would help tone down heated rhetoric without being censorship.

Fiorina got added to the main debate. Originally it was going to be 10... in the top tier IIRC. Not sure of the former
I listened to the last one via streamed audio, since the video was not free to stream. But it looks like CNN will be video streaming tonight's for free. Much more interesting.
There are really only two things on tv that I enjoy partnering with a beer: US football, and presidential debates. On my way to the store now...
I'm assuming you mean CNN.com (since I don't cable. I'm one of those "streamers")
Aw, man, adobe flash player? That sucks. (iPad owner)
