You don't seem to be thinking here. The photos and captions that I just told you about that would make me appear to be the father of my nieces would also make my brother/sister appear to be the uncle/aunt of their own children. It's the same situation as the photo you seem to be referring to, I'm just in the role of viewer. My brother/sister are in the same role as the guy holding the baby in this case.

Can you cite good evidence for this "testimony" because all I've seen is that (from memory here) "Nieces, straight from the vagina" caption. If that person is expecting the viewers of that photo to be his brothers and sisters he is showing them their niece not his own niece.

No. The claim is that Ilhan immigrated to the US as a refugee, claiming to be a member of the Omar family which was also immigrating to the US as refugees. Elmi and some of Ilhan's other family members immigrated to the UK. He later came to the US, as a British citizen and not as a refugee.

You can argue that the claim is wrong, but at least understand what the claim is before you do so.

It's a post on instagram. It's not directed to anyone specifically, and the likes it has gotten certainly don't come specifically from family. And if he isn't the uncle, then would have to be directed to Ilhan's brothers and sisters anyways (which it wasn't), not his own, because he isn't the father. Everyone agrees on that point.

He was a British citizen. Was he thinking about trying for American citizenship and marrying Omar was the easiest way, but then he changed his mind before filing paperwork? Is that the idea?

This may shock you, but even if your own source is correct about the claim of calling someone an uncle that's not really proof of a familial relationship. It is not uncommon for people to call close friends of their parents Aunt or Uncle, despite no biological or legal relationship.

Why should we spend any more time on this than we should on that garbage global warming paper?

If a site is unreliable, it's up to it to demonstrate the veracity of any story it runs. It's not up to me to check beyond seeing how rubbish it is.

Similarly, a paper claiming to rewrite the whole science of global warming and shift the blame away from humans, but with only one equation and no sources for some of its data doesn't need more than a cursory look.
