"SEND HER BACK!" Will they defend this?

Oh dear me... you really have no idea, do you?

YES, her name WAS Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, because she was married to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi until 2017 (separated in 2011). She went back to her family name "Omar" (her father was Nur Omar Mohamed). There is nothing nefarious about this; divorced women do this frequently.

YES, she filed joint tax returns with her then boyfriend Ahmed Hirsi, when she was separated (but still married) because she was living in a DeFacto relationship with Hirsi at the time. It is not NOT illegal, even in the USA for a person to live in a DeFacto relationship while still legally married to a previous spouse.

Oh, and by the way it is not at all suspicious that both her father and her husband have the prefix "Nur" in the their names. "Nur" (pronounced "Noor") is a unisex name meaning "light" and is part of their given name, not their surname.

And here's another thing you might want to know when you are busy "othering" brown skinned people of the Islamic persuasion. In traditional Islam, it was customary to place the family name first followed by the given name. However, many Islamic immigrants modernised their names according to western convention to better fit it... Ilhan Omar would more traditionally be know as Omar Ilhan

All these BS attacks on her are unwarranted... just Birtherism V2.0

Ok, RBF, since you liked my assessment of Trump, how about my assessment of your party? Which used to be my party.
I come from a long line of Republicans. I proudly wore my I Like Ike button when I was in elementary school. I'd have voted for Nixon in '68 had I been eligible, and did so in '72. Which was a mistake, but I continued to vote for Republicans after.

I didn't leave the Republican Party, it left me.

For the past forty years or so, it's become:
The party of fiscal irresponsibility, repeated tax cuts for the rich generating extreme deficits. Thank you so very not-much, David Stockman.

The party of war. Ok, Nixon inherited VietNam. And lost it. Panama? Granada? Serisously? I supported going into Afghanistan, but they bungled it. Iraq was based entirely on lies. Republican lies. And it's turned out SO very well.

The party of hate. Hatred of gays, hatred of transexuals, hatred of anyone not lily white, hatred of foreigners, hatred of women who don't know their place, hatred of foreigners, hatred of non-Christians. And of the wrong kinds of Christians.

Oh, but it was the Democrats who supported slavery! Yeah, that was 160 years ago. Give me a break. And all those Southern Dems who were against civil rights in the '60's are Republicans now.

Trump is NOT an aberration. He's what the Republican Party has been moving toward for the past 50 years. If you support that party, you support Trump whether you think so or not. And I pity you for it.

Oh, I'm going to report my post as soon as it's up and request a split. Seriously off-topic.

Well said and it's the truth. My parents felt the same way; they didn't leave the GOP, it left them.

Just stating facts and projecting the results. If you have evidence Omar's name isn't really Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, feel free to put it up. If not, we'll probably have to wait until the ethics committee (50-50 Dem-GOP) says something, because Omar isn't talking about it. If it were me, I would correct the record immediately. No reason not to do so.

Accusations are distinct from facts, bro.

Isn't it up to those making the claim to provide evidence to support it?

Based on everything that is out there about Omar, she should be sent back to where she came from (Kenya or Somalia? Don't know how that works) because she's here illegally, and it appears her name isn't even Omar. And, there's much, much more. Of course, it's going to be a battle because she'll have political protection from the Democrats like Antifa does. Judicial Watch filed an ethics complaint with the House Office of Congressional Ethics saying "Substantial, compelling and, to date, unrefuted evidence has been uncovered that Rep. Ilhan Omar may have committed the following crimes in violation of both federal law and Minnesota state law: perjury, immigration fraud, marriage fraud, state and federal tax fraud, and federal student loan fraud."

So, she's in the deepest of doo doo, and refuses to answer questions about anything involving this stuff.

I saw this the other day:

Based on these quotes alone I think she should be declared anti-American and thrown out of the country. Do you agree?

I am sorry...why is her original name so important?

Apparently, she's using her original name now. Right wing reactionaries seem upset that she's no longer using her ex-husband's name. Not sure why they think it's politically important or illegal, though.

I think she just sees some flaws and would like to make America great...again.

Pity that most allegations against her are based on social media postings that have since been wiped. Nothing suspicious there at all, nosiree.

The grain of truth is in her murky marriage/tax-filing status. But many things you are taking as gospel just aren't substantiated. She hasn't volunteered info on her taxes/personal life and at this point isn't required to.

I'm sure Barr is digging up dirt for a criminal indictment, because we know who gives him his marching orders and Trump thinks it's fine to use his office to go after political enemies. If an indictment does not materialize we can surmise that the case against her is weak.

It also makes eminent sense to go after her for her immigration circumstances ... when she was 9 years old. [/sarcasm]

What's great is that this unsubstantiated goofball crap is from someone who thinks that Russian election interference is a hoax.

It truly boggles the mind that there are people in the world who can still function while being burdened with this much cognitive dissonance and lack of self-awareness.

If you had to prove in court that Ahmed Nur Said Elmi was indeed biologically related to Congresswoman Omar, what non-hypothetical documentation would you present to the finder of fact? It seems you believe that substantial and compelling evidence has already been discovered. As a skeptic, I try to keep an open mind, but I'd be surprised if you can actually produce the goods.
