"SEND HER BACK!" Will they defend this?

In a two-party system, sticking to one side until the other gets it 100% right just means that each party can do whatever they want.

WHY do you dislike Democrat platforms? Because they are not to your taste? Unworkable? Or just come with the label "Democratic Party" attached?
In most cases flip sides of the same coin...

For example:

Just look at Bennet's plan:
AMERICA’S CLIMATE CHANGE PLAN
IT’S OUR TIME

You start from the top and he hits damn near every check.
  1. 30% conservation of natural biomes Check
  2. Reduce energy emissions Check
  3. Support agricultural reform Check
Not only that but he acknowledges the need for infrastructure investments to make all three above work. Sounds perfect right?

Pretty damn close to my own plan too!
Can we reverse global warming?
Executive summary:

Yes we can reverse Global Warming.

It does not require huge tax increases or expensive untested risky technologies.

It will require a three pronged approach worldwide.

  1. Reduce fossil fuel use by replacing energy needs with as many feasible renewables as current technology allows.
  2. Change Agricultural methods to high yielding regenerative models of production made possible by recent biological & agricultural science advancements.
  3. Large scale ecosystem recovery projects similar to the Loess Plateau project, National Parks like Yellowstone etc. where appropriate and applicable.

Look familiar? But look deeper and you see "Create a Climate Bank to catalyze $10 trillion in private sector investment"

And what about agriculture? "voluntary markets and government partnerships" (read that as non funded, please do it for us for free, or worse, we will pass regulations forcing you to save our arses for free.)

Keep in mind he also says this:
"financial incentives for farmers and ranchers to invest in the production of zeroemission energy, which could be our newest cash crop" he means loans for King Corn biofuels. Read that as Archer Daniels Midland et al and the inefficient corn system discussed here:
It's Time to Rethink America's Corn System - Scientific American

"The agricultural community is already implementing leading, innovative, and voluntary strategies to reduce and sequester emissions faster than other sectors of the American economy. "

So if we are already voluntarily making more impact faster than any other sector in the American economy, which is true BTW. And Farmers according to the last census only 46.1% of farmers with net positive income from farming.

Source: USDA-NASS, Census of Agriculture

Because of the current regulatory capture of the USDA in order to financially drive farmers off their land.

Why in the world would you spend 10 trillion more in Banking and industry sectors, and not even pay farmers for an important service they must do now for free? Why would you fund King Corn instead of Pay farmers to restore grasslands and verified carbon pool increases in the soil? You already know they can accomplish it better and faster than any sector of the economy and that's while actively trying to PREVENT them from doing it. Everything I Want To Do Is Illegal: War Stories from the local food front How much more if you actually set up a carbon market to make carbon emissions sources pay for carbon sequestration back into the soil?

Do you ask your garbage collector that comes by the house once a week to collect the trash for free? Then why expect farmers to sequester carbon voluntarily? Why fund the least effective agricultural option with billions instead? The False Promise of Biofuels :boggled:

Oh it gets worse. Bennet actually has one of the better plans. That's why I chose him as an example. But it cant work. It costs way too much and even if fully implemented couldn't possibly work because it funds causes and forces solutions to do it for free while trying to still compete against those even more subsidized causes and with two hands tied behind their backs!.:jaw-dropp A house divided can not stand. Oh I could write a book actually. The number of flaws in the plan are astonishing. But it sounds good to the naive.

I don't care what you backed it with. I've read Merchants of Doubt and I was around when the paid-off tobacco scientists were fighting second-hand smoke regulations. I know about the aspirin manufacturers that killed hundreds of kids from Reye's syndrome because they fought to delay simple warning labels. Exxon spent millions promoting global warming science doubt.

There's absolutely nothing "liberal" neo or otherwise involved with corporate greed killing people for a buck. Follow the money, yeah, straight to the GOP.

If you are projecting that on to liberals, what is wrong with you?

And in Europe the eidolon of liberalism you had left wing and liberal parties back draconian austerity policies to the hilt.

RBF, I'm having a hard time seeing how this is at all relevant to the question.

Currently, there is no will in the GOP to fight Climate Change. In fact, there is a strong effort being made to undo every progress made under Obama.

That is what, in fact, you support when you decide to stick with Republicans.
Your Senator/Congressperson doesn't care one bit about what you would like them to do as long as you vote for them.

If you want the GOP to change its platform on Climate Change, you have to put them under pressure.

On non fiction rather dry climate change and political topics by and large. Almost all either focus on climate change mitigation and/or agricultural reform. Both biophysical and political.

Examples:
As a farmer, what do you wish more people understood?
What is the biggest contributor to environmental damage?
Can we reverse global warming?
How does deforestation affect the water cycle?
What do we do now that will be looked at as primitive and backwards in 100 years?
What do conservatives really believe about climate change? I’m hoping that some of them can clear the water on what they actually do and don’t believe.
What do you have to say to people who think climate change isn’t real?
Why is ethical treatment of animals in the food industry even a problem at this point? Why are there not more regulations to prevent these crimes?
Is global warming caused by humans? If so, how can it be reversed by humans?
The Green New Deal is about starting an important conversation about conservation and global climate change. Why are so many Republicans opposed to an honest, dispassionate, fact-based conversation?
As a climate change advocate would you give up eating meat, as it is one of the biggest contributors to the global warming and uses much more resources to produce the same amount of energy as vegetarian/ vegan food does?
How much money per tonne CO2e can Australian farmers and ranchers earn via soil carbon sequestration?
Is Organic farming actually a safer way to farm considering it encourages insect and bacterial life that is diversified and will neutralize manure based pathogens?
What rising technologies look promising for reducing human impacts on climate change?
Is carbon sequestration a viable solution to global warming?
Why do conservatives oppose environmental causes?
Will the US be ever able to lead the world as a low-carbon economy?
How would arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) work with a permaculture approach? Could they lead to constant soil enrichment and carbon sequestration?
What reaction can you do to remove methane?
As humic acids are containing lots of carbon, could grassland (carbon) farming create a significant and sustainable carbon sink by generating soils?
The other side of the carbon cycle.
Since it's likely too late to prevent catastrophic global warming by limiting CO2 emission, isn't geo-engineering (injection of sulphur dioxide into the stratosphere, orbiting solar reflectors at the Lagrange point, etc.) almost inevitable?
Are allegations about Monsanto's unethical and possibly unlawful business practices true?
Is there a technically viable and economically advantageous solution to Climate Change and what is preventing its implementation?
That last one even has links to contact congress.

So seriously. Tell the truth. Are you actually pushing anywhere even close to as much for a solution? I mean really. There are hundreds more just like that too. Have you done even 1/10th the homework then actually made anywhere near the same pressure? I know what I am doing is just one drop in a very big bucket. But are you doing as much?

Tell the truth.

Now I am just one Man, but I am pushing absolutely as hard as possible. How many of you bleeding heart liberals put in that much effort? Or you just want to sit back and let someone else do the hard work of changing minds through education?

Keep in mind I also have a business plan that will apply vastly more pressure should I ever find funding from an investment Angel. Because this writing is for free. And money does talk. And I do actually have the knowledge to beat them at their own game and at a profit.

If and when that ever happens, be sure, y'all be the first to know.;)

RBF, you are still just evading the question.

You claim you do more than others, yet refusing to do what would arguably have the biggest impact, namely changing US policy.

Don't get me wrong, I think posting on quora is a good thing, but unless you can show that you changed the mind of someone in power, voting, calling out Republican's anti-Climate policies and supporting pro-environmental Democrats would have been more effective.
That is if you actually want to help solve the problem and not just complain.

I have reached a few, yes. ;) By no means have I won the battle yet. But I have managed to reach a few ears. What you think one lonely man on the internet can actually rewrite an entire party's environmental platform so easy? Seriously? It aint happenin like that. Sorry to let you down. But be sure I have indeed made some ripples and give it time....

Oh and that doesn't even count getting my hands dirty in the fields actually experimenting with new methods. Nor the people I talk to face to face.

And why should Republicans rewrite their platform if they got your vote no matter what?
Because you asked nicely?

More powerful would be to deny them power until they change.

The point of contention, however, was not what you, personally are doing regarding climate change, but rather: What is the Republican Party doing regarding climate change.

And the answer, despite your lengthy post, remains: Nothing!

I fear this is becoming a huge derail in order to allow RBF to push his views on carbon capture in pastureland. His recent posts have certainly got **** all to do with the o/p.

ahem Remember. I am in Oklahoma.

Oklahoma moves into No. 2 spot for wind power capacity in the nation, association says

Oklahoma
Carbon
Program

That's the same Oklahoma that ONLY elects Republicans and voted completely Trump last election. Arguably the single most conservative state in America, yet number two in wind generation in the country, and a functioning, but still voluntary soil sequestration program just waiting ..... but already actually sequestering many many many tonnes of carbon annually. And we even managed all that in a state completely dependent on oil and gas revenue. Don't even try to think that wasn't a big time battle!

So don't give me your cock and bull stories about my local vote having no impact and that we have done nothing. In truth we have done far more than most.

And I already told you I never voted for Trump, and will most likely vote Bill Weld a republican with a somewhat still flawed climate plan, but better than most the Democrats plans: 'Great environmentalist' Weld dives into race against Trump He even backs Nuclear!

Or did you miss all that first time around?

Despite it being in OK, I'm not convinced any of that is due to Republican policies. For all I know, it could be due to Federal incentives that date back to the Obama era, or private industries that lean Democrat (OK isn't 100% red, you know). Can you demonstrate it's actually due to Republican policy?

Also, is the same Oklahoma that has increased earthquakes arguably due to excessive fracking?

This Oklahoma: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3E0a_60PMR8 ?

Just curious.

Being a registered Republican in 2019 and not actively supporting a primary challenger is the same as being a Trump supporter.
