That's easy to do even with a single-shot rifle.More than 10-15 rounds per minute.

That is an assault rifle, so yes, it's an assault weapon.
If it's based on the M14, it is capable of fully automatic fire, so yes, I'd say it's an assault weapon.
I'd say that's not an assault weapon. It's not capable of fully automatic fire.
Rapid fire functionality.
The rifle in question is a Ruger Mimi-14, and the only thing in common w/ a real 14 is nomenclature and receiver profile. It is not at this time considered an AW, even though it fires the same 5.56 mm round from 20 or 30 round magazines
Fair enough. For the "Hello Kitty" rifle, is there a relatively easy way to make it fully automatic? If not, it's just a rifle with bling.
You said the Ruger was based on the M14, so I supposed it was capable of fully automatic fire. What is the rate of fire?
More than 10-15 rounds per minute.
Do women have a need for abortion?
(Note, this does not include grave foetal abnormality or threats to the woman's health/life)
Besides, in the US, fully automatic weapons have been banned since 1986, and crimes involving "assault weapons" are a blip on the radar in overall violent crime.
As far as I know any semi-automatic firearm can be converted to full auto, some easier than others.
The Ruger Mini-14 is superficially similar to the M-14 and operates with a gas port that allows gas to push on a pistol that is connected to the bolt by a rod. None of the action parts are compatible with each other.
10-15 rounds a minutes is rather slow; rapid fire is generally considered to be one round every two seconds or 30 rounds a minute. Three rounds per second is easily achieved with a revolver. I have no problem firing my break open single shot rifle at 10 rounds per minute.

Yes, many do.
Why?
Only if it was manufactured after 1986 (IIRC) and/or doesn't have the proper tax stamp. Are these guys breaking the law, then?
I was not aware that any registered machine guns / semi-autos converted to full auto were a problem. Got a link?In that case they are a problem, and an assault weapons ban should include them.
Speak for yourself. I have never been able to get any deer or elk to stand still long enough to get off more than one shot. Gun down a horde of running elk with anything I can own? I don't think so. Your high opinion of my skills is not supported by any evidence. It's rapid enough in my view. You can gun down an entire elk horde with that ROF.
Define "need" for abortion. I mean, by your logic of "need", grave threats to the mother's life and health, and foetal abnormality are a need, but I don't see why it is necessary for anything else, like socioeconomic reasons (I mean, there are adoption and fostering agencies that should allow for unwanted children, and welfare states for single/poor mothers).

When a person is speaking of a machine gun ban hopefully they are referring to the Hughes Amendment to the Firearm Owner's Protection Act (it amended the GCA of 1968). It prohibited registration of machine guns for unlicensed civilian ownership after May 19. 1986. Machine guns are still legal in the USA, they are just more restricted than any other type of firearm. Are these guys breaking the law, then?
You want me to link to my post? It's my opinion. It was asked for.

Fine.So why do you think registered machine guns are a problem? I have never seen any evidence that they are at all.

I was told in this post that the US bans fully automatic weapons since 1986, so I was reacting to that.
They are used in school shootings.
Their importation and manufacture are banned. Not ownership. Kind of like the last Assault Weapons Ban. It was still legal to buy, sell and own them but not import or manufacture them.

When? Where? Not in the USA.
I have yet to see any proof of a registered machine gun being used by a civilian to commit murder. Can you back up this claim? They are used in school shootings. I have a problem with rapid fire weapons being allowed for civilian use.
