Picky, Picky, Picky

Listen Up Pilgrim!!!
The admendments were Read Twice before being referred to committee. Twice!
But he did marry that Heinz bitch, so there!
What I'm looking for are examples of his leadership. Sure Tip O'Neil & Ted [Glug, glug, glug] Kennedy financed the "Big Dig" but what about the other important stuff like stuff on the economy, defense and ketchup exports?
We need some examples of leadership. Hell, he's been my Senator for 19 years - he's had to have done something. Reform the CIA, cut taxes, improved education, sponsored a bill for free herbal medicine for natural male enlargement? What? What? What? Free Botox injections?
Nada!
Come on...he must have done something. Anything. Womens rights? Stem cell research? Pickle production subsidies? Leno Chin Foundation Grants? Eh?

Well, he's your senator (one of them anyway, the other being the Hero of Chappaquidick), so if you don't know, how the hell d'yexpect us to know?

Yeesh, some people...

This is starting to look less and less like a slam on Kerry, and more and more like an admission of civic ignorance and apathy on the part of the topic starter.

Well, Dorian, help me out here in my ignorance. I have to confess that the local paper here is more interested in handicapping the race, since that's what the Post does best, than in highlighting the issues. The political angles generally get front-page treatment while the issues get buried on page A-13. And even when the Post discusses issues, it's usually quickly derailed back to the race (e.g., "the president's stance on abortion is expected to help him with undecided voters in the swing states of...").

So enlighten my ignorance. What important legislation has Kerry introduced and shepherded through to final passage?

Kerry has about a 100 times more domestic experience than Dubya did when he ran for office. He also has a 1000 times more experience than Dubya did when he ran for office.

What we have here is a very wealthy man by marriage whose leisurely activity is the US Senate, and 19 years has "earned" him the Presidency, and you now wish to throw a "record" in front of his train. Some may see that as, well, unfair.

Why is this bad for those who push for a "smaller Government".

After all, GOP didn't mind the smaller government label when they were minority and couldn't pass any bills.

Then how come mr. Experience can't hold together a simple campaign against a bumbling, mealy-mouthed boob with a 45% approval rating?

If that's your idea of experience, you can keep it.

I remeber in a similar thread soemone pointed out the # of bills he sponcered that became law. It was a good amount. Compared to Cheney who had like one bill become law duringhis Senate years.

How does one really measure a Senator?? By pork?? Well the BIg Dig was a big pile that everyone fed off.

Cheney was never a senator.

Is this like a lightbulb joke? Like "How many Massachusetts senators does it take to lose elections to the Bushes?" :D

The joke was on the American tax-payer as all good jokes are. I may be wrong but I think it was about 4.1 miles long and four lanes wide, at a cost of about 15 billion dollars, some get fed, and some get fleeced. How much did Massachusetts democratic party get.

Edit- thats 4 dot 1 miles

My comments were directed towards the topic starter. You are not that person.

I am not from Massachussetts, nor am I from Texas. Why don't you let us know what Bush did while governor that qualified him to be president? And why don't you let us know what Bush started that made it through to final passage?

Oh sorry, he was a Congressman. And a crappy one at that. According to John Sprat

"Dick Cheney served in the Congress for 11 years. I served with him for most of these years. In that time, he only passed two bills. One was to build a flood plain on the Colorado River and the other was a bill to help a constituent. What’s even more telling about Dick Cheney’s record in the House is not what he supported but what he opposed – things like Headstart and funding for seniors. It seems pretty dishonest for Bush and Cheney to be attacking John Kerry - who passed 57 bills in the Senate – for his legislative accomplishments."

This press release from Kerry trumpets not only the 57 bills and resolutions that Kerry sponsored and passed, but also trumpets his leadership in the senate on various laws that he worked on, like the Clean Air Act, the Children's Health Insurance Program and the COPS Program.

See Silicons post in this "Kerrys Record" thread
