Sen. Hutchison announces run for Texas governor

Hmmm... I might actually consider sending Sen. Hutchinson's campaign a check if it'll help that dumbass Perry lose the GOP primary. Texans, Republicans, (or anyone else) what can you tell me about Hutchison vs. Perry? Will she support the same whacked out crap that he has concerning the Texas Board of Education (creationism, Biblical literalism, etc)?

What I'm really hoping for is that they will beat each other up so badly in the primary that a Democrat will look better than either of them. Not really much chance of that though.

One good possibility though is that Bill White, the enormously popular mayor of Houston, will run for Hutchinson's senate seat. Being a Texan, of course he's a bit conservative, but standing next to John Cornyn, he looks like Ghandi. Still, it is tough for any Democrat, even a very well-respected one, to win a statewide office in Texas.

He spends more on his hair.
U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison announced her run for Texas governor Monday with a sharp blast at Gov. Rick Perry, saying he has overstayed his welcome with an administration marked by arrogance and "tragic" mistakes.
OK, she is giving up a Senate seat for WHAT reason?

No comment until I better understand why she is doing this.

Is there any way to get Kinky Friedman to try again?

Probably true. "Governor Goodhair", Molly Ivins used to call him.

I honestly think she is sick of the way Perry is running the state. I sure hope that is the case. She's not my idea of the perfect politician, but she's a damn site better than Perry. And I don't believe she'll kowtow to creationists on school boards either.

I think he said he might, but of course, that would be in the general election, not the GOP primary.

He's floating a trial balloon as a Democratic Candidate.
Possibly will run on the Willie Nelson party ticket...
