Indeed. The fact that it's OK to have Hispanic or African American only ceremonies and not Caucasian only shows that we have not yet fully recovered from that yet. I find it a sad reminder.

It will be a great day when a non-white graduating is not seen as something that needs to be pointed out. Perhaps the low attendance at the race-based ceremonies signifies that the graduates are figuring this out.
 
College students are jerks by their very nature.

Every new class has a chip on its shoulder because they didnt go to school in the radical 60s. The golden age of college. So they cosntantly try to recreate that era.

We are very different people. When I graduated from high school, I went to work instead of the ceremony. When they sent my diploma in the mail, I threw it in the trash. I had issues with school, or more precisely, the people in them. I saw no reason to look back fondly at the years I spent there. On top of all that, the costs associated with graduation were out of my reach. I don't come from money. It's different for everyone, though. I'm glad you had a more positive reaction than I did.
