Are you already trembling in fear?
Its easy to be an armchair skeptic, safe and cozy within your ivory tower!

The movie is terrible. Horrible. Not as bad as Nazis from the Centre of the Earth, however...

Well, I think you just lied about this forum, but I really don't care.

I barely know who Brian Brown is. I have heard the name and I knew it was associated with the BFF.

I can see that he has nothing but scorn for JREF members, though.

For the record, as far as I can remember, I have never posted on any bigfoot forums.

See the easy use of the term "liar." Twice now I've been called a liar.

I was going to post this (from another thread) to give an example of what a True Believer looks like and an example of what Belief Blindness may lead to:

http://minisites.ninemsn.com.au/9stories/8905035/bigfoot-hoax-ruined-my-life-says-australian-man

But guess what --- Parcher is now on record as saying --- wait for it --- the guy may be LYING about how much money he lost.

The beat goes on.

Maybe the reason they don't explore it is they know it's a hoax and who perpetrated it.

Plausible deniability.

There are no credentialed phonies? C'mon jerrywayne, think about where you're posting. Deepak Chopra, Dr. Oz, Dr. Wayne Dwyer, et al.

See The Shrikes comments on christian believers

Breaking even pays for your camping trip. Hope for future profit is a bonus.

Look, I don't know if every NAWACer is a phony; some may be credulous to the point of moronic when it comes to footie, but I make no apologies in casting a skeptical eye at these folks.

ETA: I used to be exactly where you are jerrywayne; then I began to realize that LARPing explains things as well as naive credulity, if not better. Not in all cases, all the time, of course.

Or maybe they don't want their belief to be contradicted. That's a common human failing.

Plausible deniability? Are they going to deny what they are claiming is true
now, at a later date?

The Shrike's cogent observation about American Christians says more about the hypocrisy or inconsistency of religionists and not their supposed lack of belief. I also used the example of Christian belief, the contradictory crying and weeping at funerals for those who have achieved eternal life, to point out how people act inconsistently even within the framework of their belief.

My point about credentials had to do with countering an image of these guys as yahoos and was not meant to give credence to their accounts.

I'm sure these guys don't need to create an elaborate hoax in order to afford camping trips.

Calling Bigfooters liars, in most cases, is an easy explanation. Too easy.

And I agree that we should cast a skeptical eye towards these guys.

What in the world does that have to do with what I posted, and why do you give a flying blank if I think you lied about this forum in that one post?

Let me ask you straight up.

Do you want to know what I really think when I post, or do you want me to sugar-coat what I write?

Let me know, because I can lay it on thick...

Obviously you don't follow very well what's going on here jerrywayne. I suggest you to (re)read this post, for example, for a better understanding.

All Brian Brown is doing is embellishing mundane occurrences to transform them in extraordinary and mysterious events. Stains on a rock? bigfoot blood. A noise in the woods? bigfoot is watching us. A broken tree? bigfoot did it, etc, etc...It's called storytelling in marketing. It's a trick used to interest your target audience and bring it to buy your product. The N A W A C/Field Study Discussion thread at the BFF is a great example of this basic technique. It worked for more than a year. The NAWAC "Marketing and Communications Coordinator" does a good job to keep his organization at the front of the bigfootery stage.

Here is Brian's contact information if anyone wants to discuss bigfoot with him.

Has anyone read this book? Apparently it's from another person who sees bigfoots often.
http://www.amazon.com/100-Bigfoot-N...e=UTF8&qid=1411173675&sr=1-1&keywords=bigfoot

"This true story sets out to chronicle the terrifying encounters that a residential family has had with the creature known as Bigfoot. Accompanied by video, photographs, and audio evidence, the story is written in Christine’s own words as it unfolds. According to the Bigfoot investigator they contacted, “They aren’t going anywhere.” As the world gets more crowded with us, “They” are left with less and less habitat. They have learned to live in the shadows and pass through the forests by our homes. After reading this book just ask yourself, what would you do if this happened to you?"

About the Author

Christine Dela Parker is an unsuspecting mother who became burdened with an incredible situation. She has been through many struggles and continues to document the creatures around her home.

I think I may never have actually called anyone a liar in any JREF bigfoot threads.

The recent post may actually be one of the very few times I came close. :D

I certainly have never used it "easily".

When I hear someone use the word "creature", I automatically put them in the make believe category. I don't think they really believe in bigfoot when they call it a creature. Jane Goodall studied animals. Dianne Fossey studied animals. Marlin Perkins studied animals. Bob Wilkins featured monsters on Creature Features. Creatures are not the same as animals. Creatures are the monsters that live in the shadows, under the bed, in the closet, by night, and disappear in daylight.

Meldrum, Munns, the cast of Finding Bigfoot, all the big players call bigfoot a creature. To me that means they honestly don't believe, they are just playing their adult version of capture the flag. Just pretending, playing a game, letting themselves the pleasure of losing themselves in a known fantasy.

When someone calls bigfoot a "creature", I figure they are posers and pretenders. A creature is a make believe monster, where an animal is not.

The foot-stomping about "lying" is shaming and guilt-tripping. Displays of inappropriate anger are a yawner to someone who is immune from emotional manipulation. Go ahead and rip your hair out. Make Mount Everest out of a mole hill.

But bring us the evidence. Of all these honest believers. Show them to us. This is not religion. You can use religion as an analogy for some things, but not state that it is a religion and mean so in the formal sense of the word.

I am not immune yet, so I am glad you posted ABP. :)

Yes, the evidence.
Where is that evidence?

No more stories.
"Plenty of poo out there, but we can't even save a Good n Plenty (carried by
BF for hours), so how are we gonna get the poo?"

jerrywayne, you appear to be lying about two people calling you a liar.
There are other explanations of course, why focus on that?
Calm and respectful is much better than emotional and defensive.
I am speaking from experience. :)

Your criticism is valid if we were dealing with fully objective, no-nonsense individuals. We are not. They are not the hillbillies they are portrayed to be sometimes; their resumes may surprise you. But they are committed believers who believe they are on the cusp of a great discovery. It colors their endeavors.

Are you suggesting hillbillies are ignorant?
I think you are incorrect with that assumption.
Meldrum cannot tell a real animal cast from a made up creature cast.
I think any number of hillbillies could tell the difference.

I wonder how many "hillbilly" reports there are of Bigfoot?

You like to manipulate the conversation while claiming others are the manipulators. I am not "foot-stomping" or "shaming" or "guilt-tripping" or giving displays of "inappropriate anger." The mental image you are trying to create of me is wrong.

You have a difficult time differentiating between belief and lies.

The issue is whether I lied when I said that the default position here about Bigfoot sightings (and related Bigfoot issues) is to claim it is all about knowing dishonesty.

Here is the kind of thing I fault --- Parcher on the guy who was taken in and financially damaged by the Dyer hoax:

"Rule #1: Never believe a Bigfoot believer without supporting evidence.

Anybody who partners with Rick Dyer must be a believer. Don't believe them."

I think the dishonesty here is with the Fraternity that has called me a liar because I have made statements to the effect that the "it's all a lie, all of it" explanation is inadequate as a central explanation for Bigfoot phenomena.

Here is the retort I am hearing: You, jerrywayne, are a liar because we don't say it's ALL based on lies. We admit that there is a TINY sliver of sightings that are misidentifications (or hallucinations), that there are a few, VERY FEW people who may be MORONIC enough to believe Bigfoot stuff; we are just saying that OVERWHELMINGLY, IT IS COMPOSED OF KNOWING LIES! So I'm a liar based on a loophole.

Sometimes I say "virtually all" and sometimes I say "all." I'll try to remember to say "virtually" exclusively just so the Fraternity will have to adjust its criticism and be less erroneous and unable to manufacture outrage at my comments.

I was born the same year the fake yeti track "discovered" by Shipton was announced to the world. When I was a young kid Bigfoot was born in northern California. I go way back. They problem between me and the Fraternity, I think, lies with the fact that I used to be a believer and the Fraternity, as far as I know, does not sport a former believer. Also, the Fraternity is reacting to Internet Bigfoot, such as BFF and numerous other sites as well as the occasional news report. I can almost agree that Bigfoot phenomena found on the net is mostly fabrication.

P.S. Alaska is trying to portray me as angry (I may be a little angry at being called a liar, but not as much as the Bush Pilot thinks.) I would say that certain elements of the Fraternity seem to me to be some angry folks. Your post seems angry, for instance.

P.S.S. I'm using the term "Fraternity" to mean the handful or so posters here that use the "IT"S KNOWING DISHONESTY" critique as the overriding explanation for the Bigfoot saga.

I did not use the term "ignorant" to describe hillbillies. But, now that you mention it, we are all ignorant in some form or fashion. Yes?
