Dallas psychic Stephanie Almaguer injected herself into the case of a kidnapped baby and when her tip proved wrong, she blamed the media.

Stephanie Almaguer's listing at psychiccrimefighter.com says she is an officer at a school and there is a picture of her wearing a police-type uniform. http://www.psychiccrimefighter.com/Stephanie-Almaguer/ Her blog has her predictions and a link to PayPal to purchase a reading: http://stephaniealmaguer.blogspot.com/

Missing Baby Lisa Irwin: Nothing Found at Old Casino Site, Psychic Turns Abusive on Blog
International Business Times

In response to a blog post by Dallas psychic Stephanie Almaguer, volunteers initiated a thorough search for Lisa Irwin in the vicinity of a closed casino about two miles from the missing baby's residence. Like numerous other leads in the case, however, Almaguer's hunch proved to be an empty one.

The mystery surrounding the disappearance of the infant Lisa Irwin, who was reportedly kidnapped on Oct. 4 from her home in Kansas City, Mo., appeared to have received a new lease on life when Almaguer claimed to have mystical knowledge of where the baby's body was and how it got there.

After Almaguer's hunches were proven wrong, however, she is now claiming the media misrepresented her.

On Saturday, she posted on her blog: "Some of the media has crucified me, lying about what really happened at the search. The searchers found a well that described images I'd sketched, exactly in the spot (described area) I'd indicated. I agreed not to share the info. Out of respect for the case, but for what? To be made out the fool, one more time?"
...
After Almaguer posted the above statements, she disabled all comments on her posts. In addition, she posted a 15-minute-long video on her Facebook page defending herself.

Psychic sparks search for baby Lisa
kctv5.com
Nov 26, 2011 12:09 PM EST

About 25 volunteers were out in full force Saturday, despite the rain and cold temperatures, searching for any trace of missing child Lisa Irwin.

The search started at 9 a.m. from the Chouteau Bridge over to Highway 210, most of it on the Cerner property that was formerly Sam's Town Casino.

The search area was based on the vision of a psychic from Texas. She said she saw a river by a tower and other elements that locals connected to this property.
...
Police have conducted multiple searches in the seven weeks since baby Lisa disappeared, but they said they will not be participating in this one.

Lisa's father, Jeremy Irwin, called 911 about 4 a.m. Oct. 4 to say that someone had snatched his daughter from her crib in her Northland home while she was sleeping. Her mother, Debbie Bradley, initially said she last saw her daughter about 10:30 p.m. but later admitted she had drank heavily in the hours before her daughter went missing and last remembered seeing her daughter at about 6:30 p.m.
...
Police said they have received multiple tips from multiple psychics but none that have provided anything useful.

The psychic behind Saturday's effort drew a sketch of what she saw, posted it on her blog and people living in the Kansas City area made a connection to the old Sam's Town property.

The psychic told KCTV5 News by phone that she envisioned not just the area but a person with a baby.

"And then they (the people in her vision) came out and then they went down and they went into the river and then there was this tower beside it, and then I drew a big pole. It was like I was there, it was like I could see all of these things," said Stephanie Almaguer.

Another item that sparked Almaguer's interest was the railroad tracks that go through the property and a photo someone else posted on her blog showing a collapsed piece of gravel where she believes someone could be buried. So that will be a big focus of the search.

Around 11:30 a.m., those searching found an old well that matched the psychic's vision and called police for assistance.
...
A detective arrived on scene and went with the volunteers to identify the area. As he was leaving, he said he didn't know if police would return.
...
Almaguer said she will not be at the search because she couldn't afford the airfare.

Lisa Irwin Update -- Psychic Addresses Media Reports
November 27, 2011
news.gather.com

Lisa Irwin wasn't found during the volunteer-led search of an old casino property this weekend, initiated by a Dallas-based psychic. In the latest update in the missing baby's case, the now-known psychic has addressed media reports regarding her psychic visions.

Stephanie Almaguer is the psychic who's been blogging about her visions regarding missing baby Lisa Irwin. On her blog, according to various media outlets, she shared drawings that resembled areas perfectly, leading volunteers to the old abandoned casino property. In this initial Gather article on the psychic update, it's revealed that many readers of Stephanie's blog were enthralled with her alleged visions.

However, in the latest update surrounding this volunteer-powered search, Stephanie Almaguer has some things to say. She posted on her blog today that the media has misrepresented her. What a big surprise right? Her post, from the beginning, is calm and collected but then it takes a moodswing-like turn that reveals someone who appears angry and unbalanced. That's not making any judgements on the woman who claims to have predicted what happened to missing baby Lisa, but it's apparent that this new dose of publicity has put her under some very obvious strain. She writes near the end of her blogged meltdown:

Why on earth would they listen to her?

Theyre blaming her for being wrong? I blame them for listening to her in the first place.

It's scary that the police would even give people like this the time of day.

It sounds like the police weren't listening to her. One detective showed up after being called out by searchers, and said he didn't know if the police would return. Sounds pretty unenthusiastic to me. They probably only did that out of consideration for the family, and to cover their own posterior in regards to media outlets, which unfortunately do pay attention to psychics.

What's really scary is that she appears to be a school resource officer; that is, she actually is the police.

:mad:When has a 'psychic' EVER had success finding a missing person ? They're nothing more than scammers...Look at Sylvia Brown for example, she talks to dead people, but can never come up with anything accurate..!

She looks more like a security guard to me. SROs are police officers assigned to schools, but schools generally do not employ "police officer." I do not see a service weapon or even a night stick in her work photo, only handcuffs worn in a way that is not indicative of a police officer. Perhaps whatever school district she claims to work for calls their security guards "security officers" or something like that, but she does not appear to be what we generally think of as an officer.

They don't have a choice. If someone claims to have information regarding a crime the police have to listen to them, regardless of how they pretend to have obtained that information. From the sound of it the police handled it as they would any other unfounded tip - take a look just to check it out, then quickly dismiss it when it's found to obviously be bollocks. Calling out the ********ters for wasting their time seems perfectly fair after having to do that a few times.

Are you kidding? She comes up with health problems in the head or chest area. She comes up with a name that starts with the letter M........or T......or O.......or P........
It's not Sylvia's fault. It's those dang dumb dead people.

Psychic Stephanie Almaguer was able to use the failure to find missing baby to get on national television.

Megyn Kelly Interviews Psychic Stephanie Almaguer About Lisa Irwin Case (VIDEO)

Fox News' Megyn Kelly found a rather puzzling angle to the sad tale of missing baby Lisa Irwin when she interviewed a psychic about the case on her Wednesday show.

Irwin's disappearance from her Kansas City crib became a national news story in early October, sparking support and interest from concerned citizens.

Most recently, a self-described psychic named Stephanie Almaguer became involved with the investigation after she told police that she had a vision that informed her of the missing baby's whereabouts.

For reasons that were not entirely clear, Kelly interviewed Almaguer and asked her to talk about her vision. Kelly even said that Fox News had confirmed that police planned to investigate the location that emerged from Almaguer's vision.

Why Almaguer was given time on TV? It is worth noting she says she "gave names" which should give her crediblity. No word on what those names were or who they were given to or if they are relevant.

This reminds me of a missing child case near here some years ago. A psychic told searchers the body was in a deep quarry lake. Draining the lake was a huge operation that cost a lot of money, but long before it was complete I correctly predicted that they would find more than one dead body but would not find the missing child in question. (IRCC, they turned up the remains of 3 bodies of various vintages and a stolen car from the 1930s.)

Haleigh Cummings

It seems Stephanie Almaguer also made predictions about Haleigh Cummings missing child case.

Haleigh Cummings Update: Misty Croslin Sentenced to 25 Years in Unrelated Drug Case
By Carlin DeGuerin Miller
October 11, 2010
Cbs News

Haleigh Cummings has been missing for over a year and a half, and on Friday her ex-stepmother, who is believed to have been the last person to see Haleigh alive, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for unrelated drug charges.
...
Croslin told police that she put Haleigh to bed, along with the girl's 4-year-old brother, at around 8 p.m. and that when she woke up at 3 a.m. Haleigh was gone and the back door of the north Florida house she shared with Cummings was propped open by a cement block. Cummings reported her missing when he returned from work.
...
Almost immediately investigators started to see holes in Croslin's story.
...

Stephanie Almaguer's says on her blog about her visions of the case:
My thoughts on Haleigh and what happened
Feb. 2009.....

I have taken so much flack over my post re: HaLeigh and all I really want is for her to be found!

I can't find the origin post Almaguer made that got her "flack."

Casey Anthony gave names, too.;)

Suspicious how she has this info about the missing child. Maybe she should be investigated as a suspect.

I asked a friend at the french police and he told me the same. In addition if the tip turned to be solid, they would rather suspect that it weas gotten using mundane way : sight witnessing, or being an accomplice. Not thru ESP.

This reminds me of the resources and time spent on psychics' tips in the disappearance of the McCann child.
All at the parents' insistence, IIRC.

I'm perusing her blog now. Names named:

a women's name with R's.....Rashell, Rachel?.....Samantha.....Savannha? a man with name Robert or Roberts...and Don or Donald..(guy w/D name? .Mike/Michael.....Randy/Randall....Russell.....?(could be street names and not people?) Wooded creek area not far from behind/near home....apartment complex.......I heard Cables or Cable Co?....(could be a lead in who?...or where she may be???)

Sounds plausible. I'm positive Lisa's parents can be shown to be acquainted with a Mike/Michael, and a guy with a D name, and a woman with an R name. Also, they've probably had cable at some point in time.

Her blog and her Youtube videos give the impression that Almaguer is more in the delusional camp than the calculating con artist camp, even as she's striving for media attention. But she's dragging her kids into it, which is really sad.

This is one of the reasons the police don't automatically discard information given by psychics. There's always the possiblilty that the psychic is involved in the crime and attempting to put the cops on the wrong track. I'm fairly sure that in at least one instance - I believe it was in Australia - the psychic was in fact the murderer.
