Sean Penn and his El Chapo interview

That's a reason to dislike Sean Penn?

I said there are reasons to dislike Penn but that's not one of them. Hate him for his acting, or his smug jerk face, or his self-promotion, or his stirring up trouble in the name of 'activism', but don't hate him for beating up Madonna. Unless you still believe that he did beat up Madonna, despite Madonna swearing up and down it didn't happen. I guess some people think she's lying about it, or maybe they just have a better knowledge of what happened to Madonna than Madonna does. Perhaps Madonna's physical transformations over the years were actual Time Lord regenerations and she suffers memory loss each time she undergoes the process.

Personally, I dislike Sean Penn because of his beady little rat eyes. Ugh.

Eh, I just believe that the world would be a better place if certain people got punched on a regular basis. Both of them qualify IMO; though not as much as most politicians admittedly.

I completely get the frustration of spending so much money and seeing so little results, but this is kind of dumb. It reads as if we shouldn't be going after people like El Chapo simply because other people are doing the same thing.

Well, Sinaloa is still somewhat intact. If El Chapo were to be extradited to the US, or killed by Mexican marines, someone steps up, and with so much money at stake it's unlikely to be a peaceful secession. If we use the Gulf Cartel as an example, the extradition of Osiel Cárdenas led directly to the rise of Los Zetas as an independent faction, and the absolute barbarism we've seen in Mexico is what we got in exchange for capturing such a high-profile target.

If -something- is to be done about capturing or killing these people, we need to be better prepared for the fallout of those actions. Short of actually deploying armed forces to occupy the major trafficking territories, over which these cartels fight, there is no good answer outside of legalizing their exports.

Letting a butcher like El Chapo off the hook because Drug Laws are stupid is like letting Al Capone off the hook for the St Valentine's Day Massacre because of prohibition.
