Sean Manchester - Vampire Hunter

For The Vampire and Fowlsound,

Well, I'll tell a little. But you'll just have to read between the lines. Why? Not because the account is untrue, but because maybe everything should come out in its proper sequence, and maybe too much material has been released here in one short day already.

Okay. Then I'll put this in the form of a hypothetical story - for the moment.

Lets just say - as part of our 'hypothetical story', in late 1968 (the 'swinging sixtities' we should remember) a small group of people (say two or three actually) came up with the idea of making a vampire home-movie in Highgate Cemetery. Now, the location was perfect - or the setting was.
The Cemetery was in a shocking state of disrepair (no Friends of HC in those days); just the place to film a 'vampire' that had its home in one of the vandalised Victorian vaults in the Cemetery.

Now there just seemed to be one major problem; being such a small trio - with two people really needed to operate the 8mm movie camera and take the necessary 'stills') who was left to play the actual 'vampire'? Well, obviously the person who thought up the idea was probably best suited, as he was then left to concentrate on make-up and disguise - which was obviously necessary if he was to concentrate on playing the local vampire.

Rumour had it that this 'movie' took about two months to make, and the finished result was a rather amateurish home made movie without sound, although it was in colour. (The sound effects were added later but the 'talk-overs' and 'vampire music' were frankly a complete diaster!).

Thank you, David.

This is one of those slapping my forehead moments. This clue has been in front of me all the time! Rosemary Ellen Guiley interviewed Manchester and mentioned the amateur film called "Vampires At Night," being filmed when all this "vampire activity" was going on. It didn't occur to me who was doing the filming. D-oh!

there's also that picture of him doing the black magic ritual and I've got the holy spirit one , landing on his head ---if anyoen wants to pm me, then if anyone knows how to put them on the board they can

greenwych

here are two of the pics you sent me GW.
This one appears to be someone at least pretending to do some kind of "magik". If it is Manchester it puts some of his rants about Davids participation in similar stunts into a different light.

This is allegedly Manchester being ordained, the smudge on the leans which you can see in both pictures has been claimed to be the holy spirit.
I remain skeptical.

Greenwych sent me some other pictures, but as these where of drawings of Manchester, I haven't posted them as they don't demonstrate anything. Although some are very funny.

I somehow don't think that the Holy Spirit would land on Manchester's head that is blasphemy of the Good Lord and it would be beneath the Lord's dignity to do such a thing.

Kind regards and best wishes.

For Brodski and The Vampire,

The person in the picture is definitely the person who is named in the French caption. It was taken in the late 1970's and appeared in a book titled "Messes Rouges et Romantisme Noir" published by Jean-Paul Bourre in 1980.

You mentioned the amateur film "Vampires at Night" as being maybe the same film, Vampire. (Wish you'd give me another name to call you!).

Well, I don't think it was. You have to remember everybody was 'at it' in Highgate Cemetery at this time - it was just the 'in thing' to do. Yes, there was apparently such a film, but I have never seen it.

I am referring to an amateur home movie made about 18 months before this and 'starring' yours truly as a vampire hunter and also playing himself dressed up as the Highgate vampire. Please believe me. I have actually seen it. And you really would be surprised if I told you who two of these other people were and where I saw the 'preview'. I am not going to say at this stage. It would only be denied and give further 'ammunition' to people who are convinced I'm part of some world-wide Satanic conspiracy against them!

But I'm sure you know whom I'm referring to.

For the moment,

David (Farrant)

Well, seeing as Greenwych has been also been banned. Why should we claim anything regarding the picture. Anyone who sees the picture can quite plainly see who it is. What Greenwych has said on here is perfectly true and yet she's been banned also. From what I can gather she hasn't been half as insulting as what MythBuster was. Still, who am I. I do not make the rules of this forum, but it seems like there are too many, and I thought that in USA you had freedom of speech. But I guess they are trying to make it fair!!!!!

The Holy Spirit on the photographs above seem to me like some sort of candle or incense smoke. Nothing more and nothing less.

People from both sides of the "feud" are under the same stricture. As I have made clear I will not allow you to use this Forum to continue your personal feud with Sean Manchester nor allow him or his friends to do the same in regards to David Farrant.

In essence just keep to discussion of the various claims and you will be fine.

Both she and Myth Buster ignored my very clear warning, they then had a further two warnings and then again ignored my warning, as I made very clear it would the third time resulted in a ban.

In future if you have any comments or questions regarding a matter of Forum Management please do so in the correct section of the Forum - "Forum Management" not in this section.

I have been contacted by someone claiming to be Manchester and claiming copyright of these images. I have provisionally accepted his claim and immediately removed the images but I am awaiting verification that he does indeed hold the copyright to these images.

The first amendment does not apply to privately owned discussion boards.

I found a picture of the supposed leader of a Nazi group in the UK. This someone is called "The Commander" and was part of the multi-part news story previously discussed on this thread.

The Commander:

It has been alleged that "The Commander" is actually Sean Manchester dressed in costume.

This is a picture of Sean in a puffy shirt:

They look very similar...don't you think?

I have been contacted by someone claiming to be Manchester and claiming to hold copyright to these images. I have provisionally accepted his claim and deleted the second image, however the first image appears to be of a newspaper clipping so he cannot hold copyright to that, whether he holds the copyright to the image contained within the newspaper clipping is another matter however given how it is used here I am leaving it in place as "fair use".

Ah well, just do a Google search and you'll find the picture(s) there.

What I'd like to know is how can he claim copyright when he is the person in the photographs? Surely the copyright belongs to the person taking the photographs and not the person in the photograph?

Catherine.

I deal with copyright for music pretty regularly, so I may not be wholly acurate on photographs or print, but I believe the copyright for the pictures depends solely on the arrangement during the creation. For example, My wedding photos were taken by someone else, however I hold the copyright to them (with loose rights still held by the company that took them if I were to sell them.) So I think if he had the arrangement that the photos were his after the photographer took them, then he could claim copyright. However this is based on american situations. I don't know the status of copyright in the UK.

Copyright

Dear Fowlsound,
Thank you for your information. I'm not too sure about copyright regarding photographs either here in the UK. It is something that I'll have to look into over the weekend. I know about text and everything but as you say photographs are something else. I'll link up if I find anything of note.

Best wishes

Catherine
