Anyone think he will actually go through with this? Promising to do it for the soldiers family's makes it hard for him to go back on it.

Out of interest, has anyone here got anyone to waterboard them, or tried it out? I remember there was a good article written by someone who tried it out on themselves, and became convinced they were going to die. Can't find it though. Anyone have a link?

He'll do it, he knows it won't kill him, and he thinks that fact will make a point that it won't.

I remember Hitchens doing it, so if he does it it will be good extra data.

But I really hope it is fully done, and not some wussy version.

Sean Hannity is vile and disgusting and his pathetic mockery of people being tortured makes him even more disgusting.

He should be locked up in Guantanamo and go through the whole shebang. He'd defecate in his pants after the first day.

He's offering to be tortured for charity , people, the milk of human decency is that Hannity.

It's somewhat of a sensationalist move, but I would be curious if he goes for the real thing though.
I guess he will have some high-ground to give an opinion on this enhanced technique.

I'm for this for a number of reasons. However, in case some one thinks I'm being a hypocrite, I should explain what the difference is. It isn't because I don't like Hannity's politics, even though that is true. The difference is that, for Hannity and for military personnel who go through SERE training, this is entirely voluntary. They don't have to do it and they can, presumably, stop it at any time.

The primary reason I would like to see this happen is that it might wake Hannity up to what torture is and why Americans should have no part in it. I don't have high hopes that Hannity would publicly admit to being wrong on this (when has he ever on something that matters?), but it might be helpful if he actually understood what he talks about.

Doing it to yourself there is a good chance you could die. That's just not a smart thing to do.

It would impress me if he offered $10mil for one of his listeners to be water boarded without said listener knowing it was going to happen, after said listener was captured at an unknown time, said listener was held up to 6 months, and said listener wasn't sure he/she would be the target.

If they use the Hitchens setup it will be enough. I'm sure he'll keep those deadman handles in a steely, patriotic grip

Well, of course he won't be waterboarded in the same conditions or context than your average inmate. But I think that even if you know what is coming, instinct, pain and fear will take their toll on you.

You all realize that no matter how bad it is, when it's all over he'll say "oh that wasn't so bad. thats not torture!"

We'll see... I'm expecting him to complain about those slippery dead man handles just sliding away from his hands when he was getting ready to withstand 2 more hours of it.

What were Hitchens' views on the subject before and after allowing himself to be waterboarded?

And of course with said listener being responsible for a massive terrorist attack on the United States. Got to make sure the situation is truly comparable!

He didn't think it was torture.

After trying it himself, he changed his tune completely. (linky)

That's what I thought. Thanks.

Props to Hitchens. Perhaps all those people on these threads advocating for waterboarding should have the balls to do the same thing, and then beat their chests about how they're real Americans?

My guess is they'll never do it.

We'll see about Hannity...

After publicly saying he'll do it, he can't back out completely, or his viewers won't buy it.

I don't think he's got the testicular fortitude to actually try it, because then he might have to admit error (and, if we learned nothing else from Bush, it's that there's nothing worse than admitting you're wrong).

So I think he'll go for a wussified version, where the "waterboarding" consists of him having water poured on his face.
