Scientology UK e-petition

However I dislike scientology (dislike being an understatement), if they are a religion, and religion get a tax break *in general* in UK, I cannot sign the petition.

I am sorry, but if this petition was against *ALL* religion getting a tax break i would sign. I do not see a reason to single out one single bad religion among all otehr bad religion.
Just for you! :)

L. Ron Hubbard's Great-Grandson Spills The Family Secrets

Scientology has a history of silencing critics. If you want to know where that history comes from, look no further than the experiences of Jamie DeWolf, the great-grandson of L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology. Learn his family's story. Then share it.

At 1:46, we learn about L. Ron's dream to con everyone. At 3:40, we hear about the horrifying threats. At 5:42, the church takes the family secrets. At 7:00, I laugh.

Thanks for that. Definitely worth watching.

Are you here Fred or have you gone back for another session of clearing?

Thanks! Signed it. A bit sad to see only 10 signatures on the petition so far! Unfortunately being tucked in here at the end of a 3 year old thread might mean that some people won't read to the end and see the new petition. Don't you think this new petition deserves its own thread?

I was appalled when the Scientologists got a decision recently from the High Court which ruled they had to be considered a religion, whereas they have been banned in the UK for a number of years until that decision.

Not much to worry about with this attempt at legitimization by COS. They are in a dwindling spiral, and will be out of business within a couple years.

This is not to say that the pressure against their continuing activities that ruin people's lives should relent.

I signed up yesterday.

Went back to check how many have signed just now, and noticed that the number is the same as yesterday, and apparently it's closed - even though the end date is in August.

Is there a problem?

Perhaps slightly off topic, but IMO e petitions aren't worth the paper they're written on.

I can't think of any that have actually got anywhere at all, although I'm open to correction.

Just gazillions of random rubbish really, like this one, which is against

"...We want the legislation to stop the practice of hospitals instructing patients to keep their miscarried babies in their home fridges, until the appropriate hospital department is ready to accept the baby. This is a common practice in the UK, especially at weekends..."

Really?

Which seems to concern people a lot more than scientology.
