What the hell? the COS are using banner ads now!

I like that Google's keywords ad-matching has linked it to a page with the word "Jesus" on it.

Well, at least I can get the facts now. Oh wait, no I can't.

Out of interest, when they do try to recruit you, if you were to say that you're homeless and skint, would they just tell you to naff off, or would they welcome you in and try to fix all your problems? Anyone tried telling them they want to join but have no money? Do they have a "membership fee"?

Hah I don't know. I'll have to try that sometime if I see them.

the husband of a friend is into this crap. He spends thousands of dollars on crappy videos and pointless "courses".

Nobody is "skint". They have told him to loan the money from family/friends, to sell his car (his mode of transport to work) etc. She (his wife) has to control the finances or he'll waste it. Its not like he even really understands any of it (he's a pretty dumb guy, and lets face it dianetics is a bunch of rambling nonsense anyway), but he thinks he should....

Just saw a interview with a former OTV Jason Beghe, there are some swear words:

He's not a happy camper.

They will accept slave labor in lieu of cash.

Strangely, this post would work equally as well in a thread about Amway. Although the reference to dianetics would be a bit of a non-sequitur.

I think it's an attempt to counter the rather bad publicity from the Anonymous thing.

The banners are all over Youtube now. It's interesting watching clips critical of Scientology with that advert sitting there.
Fortunately, Firefox allows me to right click and select "Remove this object". :)

I like the fact they are using the slogan "Get the facts", which is the same as the multi-billion dollar company Microsoft were using in their argument against Linux :-)

This is part of an obvious strategic campaign to rehabilitate Scientology's image, from the constant advertising, the new YouTube channels, Tom Cruise's recent groveling on Oprah......all of it is a concerted effort to combat the enormous damage that has been done, and Anonymous is the driving force behind that right now. I expect more PR stunts from the cult in the near future.

Ever since the Tom Cruise video, there has been a constant stream of new scandals, videos, leaked documents, and de-converts who are being very public about the abuses and lies. The fear of publicly exposing Scientology is quickly fading, and each new public deconversion paves the way for one more who had previously been afraid to.

Not to mention the ongoing public protests of $cientology by Anonymous.

Speaking of which, the next protest is this coming Saturday, May 10th - more info at http://enturbulation.org

Knowledge is free.

I've read that they've got an answer for that, too... they turn you into "the help." You can work off your debt to them by manning the phones and mowing Tom Cruise's lawn and such.

I've heard likewise, also that they have their own loan facilities to make a killing on the repayments. Of course, a lot of the evidence against Co$ is anecdotal, but much of it is backed up by at least sworn statements from various court cases etc, if not actual leaked documents.

Bad juju. Do they have kids? I hope not. I'd be looking for a divorce because financial ruin could be in their future.

That's good. She should keep in mind that she might be the main counterweight that keeps him from being pulled further into Scientology. She shouldn't argue with him about Scientology, but she should keep asking him how it's going and get him to talk about anything that's giving him doubts. People's own doubts are what usually get them out.
