The fellow who wrote this is serious about it. The Biblical Archaeology Society Forum is a real farce.

A person does not have to wait until the mornings of July 10 thru July 22 to see the rise of the star Sothis beside Leo. For example at 7 pm you can see Sothis rise beside Leo on Dec 25 during the winter days. There is a definate confusion between stars. One example is the confusion of whether the firebird Venus (Phoenix) is the planet or is it the star Sothis.

When I was younger, I was very interested in the Koran...until I read the where Mohamad had a vision wherein God allowed him to violate the law applicable to every other muslim and to have more than one wife. How convienent. How Joseph Smith of him. After that, I figured it was a display of how Mohamad was just like every religious fakier from every cornor of the earth.

Once again, the irony: If someone claims there are scientific facts in the Koran, that means such person does believe in scientific evidence after all. He/she is just being inconsistent by pushing the goalposts to make everything fit within the boundaries that separate reality and what he/she wants to believe. It's just a matter, then, of developing a more honest line of thinking and realizing where is the person being inconsistent.

You should stress to him that all of that science is ancient. I think the science that leads people to atheism nowadays has evolved a bit since then.

Remind him of the other stuff that science "knew" back then. The earth is flat, dragons exist, etc. This website looks like something your friend would pay attention to. Wow. I couldn't even make it past the first segment. The atmosphere is not "7 layers of heaven," in fact it's only made up of five layers (there are others within those 5, but they total more than 7).

Science back then was crazy, and 21st century re-interpretations just look and sound like desparate grasping at straws. The earlier comparison to Nostradamus was dead on. We can keep twisting words and inventing new definitions for passages to say whatever we want them to.

Just to prove how little they knew back then, check this out. That's one of the coolest websites ever, and it helps illustrate just how much we've learned since the days of your friend's "science."
