Merged Scalia is dead

Biden opposed Robert's nomination, ok. How is that relevant?

You didn't even read the excerpt I provided, let alone the article did you? He didn't even allow a hearing. There was no consideration of the nomination at all, and many dozens of others.

So assuming all this is correct, and we can agree that Biden was wrong to oppose the nomination for no other reason than partisan politics, what's your point?

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Are you conceding that the practice is well established, and that Democrats do it too? Is that what you mean by "assuming all this is correct"?

Let's get that clear, before we move on.

Once that's clear, we can move on to the question of whether it's wrong. Personally, I'm not sure it *is* wrong.

That question needs to be addressed before we can consider sunmaster14's point that he can read minds.

If it's wrong when the Republicans do it, then it's wrong when the Democrats do it, too. The reason why I think it's wrong is that it's just one more example of American politics where actually getting stuff done is secondary.

However, as said earlier, preventing Obama from getting anything done was a stated goal of the GOP, which to me is taking the nonsense to the next level.

It's false eqvivalence, as usual.

Again, there was no blanket denial to hear any candidate from Biden. There was a request for the president to consult the senate.

Those facts don't fit the Republican narrative, so they must be denied.

They're hero's.

You libs have to understand, if your given this nomination our country will be changed for generations. Obama will not get another pick. I hope the repubs understand if they let Obama do this, they will start a violent revolution that cannot be stopped.

We will not be governed by the most immoral among us!!!!
JFC, Marshall replaced by Thomas. That is all I have to say to you. We've already been governed by the most immoral among us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111!! Benghazi!!11

You think one issue defines this? I'm one who couldn't care less about homo's have civil unions, its a lot more than that!

Half the country is right thinking, 2/3 of the states are republican. We have the House and the Senate, the country is clearly divided down the middle. Not really clear to you but people aren't going to stand by and allow the wholesale changes this court could have the power to force on people.

Personally I think its time for this country to split into smaller countries. I would do whatever it took to not be governed by socialist thinking people.

Go away with your treason.

In an amusing twist, Scalia's death has caused Dow Chemicals to settle an ongoing lawsuit for price-fixing for US$835 million fearing that the lack of a conservative majority on the Supreme Court would cause it to lose it's appeal against the judgement.
:D

And yet you oppose access to sale, legal, termination services despite it being supported by a majority of USAians.

I'm sure the "socialist thinking people" would be glad to get on with life unburdened by the drain of the red states.

Half the country is right thinking, 2/3 of the states are republican.

A nice sign of how much gerrymandering the republican are doing, or a nice sign that the democratic system of the country is broken, when republican are able to have such a majority of state when they make only half the population (barely, since there is a lot of independent or non affiliated which swings at elections).

From the latest poll i checked by popular vote independent are ahead with 38%, democrat then with 31% and rep with 29%.

So "half the country" is an obvious misrepresentation (ETA I know that indep lean slightly more toward reps, but there is a reason they are seen as swing and only a *slight* leaning).

Na whatever.

ETA: Never mind. Thought I read in some post that Biden refused to hold a hearing on Bork.

Termination services? Lol

Is that what you're calling it now, how nice.

Lol
Then you'd starve, the blue states would probably start eating each other.

You're still presenting the Democrat behavior as a hypothetical. I would like to get clear agreement from you that it is a fact, before we move on to the question of whether it's wrong.

I don't know what it is you think you're arguing for, or what it is you're asking from me. I've answered the question, and I've also said that it's wrong, so there's no moving on to do. I said that it's wrong when Democrats do it, too. I don't see what's hypothetical about it.
