Merged Scalia is dead

I'm sorry but I am glad. That man said it was OK to execute an innocent person as long as they had due process and was found guilty. I'm not going to pretend I am not happy with this.

Ding dong the witch is dead.

That's reprehensible, but sadly I've come to expect it on this forum.

It's nearly as reprehensible as some of Scalia's remarks. Tu quoque doesn't make it right, but it does feel good now and then.

:D

They're hero's.

You libs have to understand, if your given this nomination our country will be changed for generations. Obama will not get another pick. I hope the repubs understand if they let Obama do this, they will start a violent revolution that cannot be stopped.

We will not be governed by the most immoral among us!!!!

What you should understand is that you're outnumbered. In a democracy, that is a very important concept. If you want to live under a dictatorship, you'll have to move somewhere, rather than trying to take on the most powerful military in the world (or I wouldn't advise the latter, anyway).

Incidentally, I would disagree about who is "the most immoral among us" but that is to be expected. (R) ideals tend to be based on tradition and fear. (D) ideals tend to be based on empathy and equality. That's a divide that's hard to negotiate, particularly at this point in history.

Probably. Especially since they have already stated their intentions to obstruct and so they will have no argument that their obstruction will be based on the qualifications of the person Obama nominates.

But then again the retards in the GOP base will call them traitors if they confirm any Obama appointment.

LOL. Quite a pickle they will have themselves in.

Sadly I think that the GOP will block any Obama nominee and in the event that a Democratic Party President follows they wall block that President's nominees too. There will be no real damage to the GOP on the grounds that the people who care and will get bent out of shape about it are unlikely to vote GOP. OTOH the GOP's steadfastness against a socialist, communist, atheist candidate will play well with the GOP base.

The last people who tried that are looking forward to years of prison sex.

Oh my God! Look at this:

Liberals Launch Racist Attacks On Clarence Thomas After Scalia’s Death

What a disgrace! Let's see some examples:

Oh, I can't cut and paste them because they are mostly screen shots of people's tweets.

Anyway, the gist is here:

My first thought was to offer condolences to Clarence Thomas. How's he going to make up his mind now?

However, someone on the internet said something even more cutting, that this would be a great day for Justice Thomas to do whatever Scalia does.

The Senate will swing back to the Democrats in the likely event that Democrat a wins the election. Maybe even if a Republican wins. The Senate seats that are up for grabs are unfavorable for Republicans this cycle.

If the GOP scum block any Obama nominee and do the same to Hillary/Bernie's, Senate Democrats can get rid of the filibuster for Supreme Court nominees and tell the Republicans to **** themselves.

If Republicans are smart, they will allow Obama to appoint a moderate. Doing otherwise will prove that they are worthless obstructionists to most people. It will also probably result in someone more liberal than Obama's nominee taking Scalia's seat.

Do you understand your condemnation should be leveled most aptly at the mindlessly obstructionist and immoral GOP senators who have been thinking and behaving almost exactly the same as the swivel-eyed silly Malheur protesters? They want things their way or it's guns; the law be damned and they don't do that talkin' stuff either - it hurts their brain.

Well, considering that most of the tweets quoted about Thomas WERE FROM BLACK PEOPLE, I have no idea what the hell they're talking about with the "racist" balderdash. Yes, it's perfectly okay to say something like "I don't like his black ass" or whatever (very loosely paraphrased from memory), if you happen to also be black, at least in terms of the reference to race. As a matter of fact, it's a pretty common turn of phrase for some.

Has anyone yet suggested that by taking Scalia to Him now, God is clearly signalling that he wants Obama to appoint his successor?

Yes, I certainly noticed that. I also noticed the tweets weren't racist.

Good morning.
Perhaps the most disturbing part of this whole political show, which started before Scalia's body was even cold, is that the current GOP leaders and current candidates feel perfectly comfortable making the ridiculous statement that they will block whoever Obama might nominate simply because HE nominated them. No need to listen to see who might be nominated, simply obstruct anything and everything the POTUS tries to do. Not based on any reason other than to stop the POTUS to do anything. Of course this isn't new. It's been the stated plan of the GOP leaders since Obama was elected. You would think they would have learned that the American public is smarter than that and can see right through this game. Claiming they are doing this to let the American public have a say in the decision is just another example of the GOP leaders inability to acknowledge that they don't have a clue what the American public want. The American public have had their say, not once but TWICE, when they voted Obama in as POTUS. Do the GOP leaders and candidates think the American public are so stupid that they didn't realize that the president they voted for would have as his responsibility to pick Supreme Court Justices? Are they saying that while the president will recognize his responsibility to do his job and nominate a replacement, they will continue to neglect their responsibility to do their jobs once again do whatever it takes to NOT do their jobs and simply play the part of a speed bump? I give the American public more credit than they do. I'm thinking they are tired of this failure on the part of the GOP leaders to do their jobs and will respond by telling them not only in the Presidential election but will be giving the Senate a makeover as well.

It is the Senate"s job to develop their own rules and choose what they vote on. Since when is using that power not doing their job.
