Saudi journalist disappears in embassy, believed murdered

They've said they have a lot, but as far as I am aware they are not sharing their intelligence?

And I no more trust the government of Turkey than I do the government of Saudi.

US intelligence could make one phone call and get everything Turkey has. It would be SOP for the FBI to send a team and see the evidence themselves.
But Trump has clearly given instructions to wait for Riad and Istanbul to come up with their stories and hope that when they are done, no one will care about it anymore.

Nation states have carte blanche to kill on their own soil right up until doing so has negative consequences, either internally or externally. In this case, there will obviously be no consequences originating in the US since Trump has said that Saudi Arabia's money means more than the life of a Saudi journalist, even if that journalist is a permanent US resident.

He was an enemy of the american people working for the failing Washington Post. So we should be glad that someone is sticking it to the enemies of the american people finally.

LOL

They actually did it. They seriously had a guy put on his clothes and walk around tourist traps in the city to create "proof" that he was still alive. That is amazing.

When he walked out, I'm guessing the girlfriend thought to herself "Oh, there he is! **Sees ugly mug** No, that's definitely not him".

ETA: I'm predicting some ghastly Halloween costumes this year.

Khashoggi Drama - A Deal Is No Longer Possible - Erdogan Demands That MbS Goes

I must say I like how this develops. My country Germany has finally banned weapons sales to the dark age penguins - which is something already inside the coalition treaty but not implemented yet thanks to the usual Mutti Merkel stalling on everything.

And next, with these freaks backed against the wall, I can't wait which kind of dirty laundry they are going to present to the world. Enough nuclear truth buttons for some serious meltdowns.

I had lunch with an Arab friend from the UAE. His take: either the Saudi Royals diversify the economy, or they will have a revolution within five years.

And that means real Islamists in power, rather than pretend Islamists.

He turned his phone completely off before discussing the issue. "You never know".

He's moving to France.

I can't believe that this one slip-up in a sea of misdeeds is what does their international standing in. Public opinion is a weird beast.

Another weird thing: I read that the Saudis mostly stockpile those weapons. They don't dare to arm their military too well. Soldiers even have little or no ammunition, just in case they get ideas.

Yup, just when you thought the cray cray couldn't get any worse. Bone saws and fist fights and body doubles, oh my!

Hollywood should be taking notes...

A body double wearing a dead man's clothes, and his own sneakers with white soles that stood out like a troupe of calypso dancers at a church service.

.....

What does he mean by "real" Islamists? All of the Arab countries are run by Islamists, but there's a lot of difference among Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Iran, Iraq, etc.

International affairs is complex. But anybody can understand the brutal premeditated murder and dismemberment of one guy while his fiance waits for him outside.

One death is a tragedy; a million deaths is a statistic.
J. Stalin.

Let’s assume for a moment that latest preposterous account is true.

Different countries have different laws, but our laws establish the concept of “felony murder”.

If he died “accidentally” during the course of an illegal act, it’s still murder.

Almost as stupid and dumb as executing people for witch craft. No wonder America loves Saudi Arabia.

Most of the Arab countries are run by conservative authoritarian regimes that are very hostile towards Islamism, at least within their own borders, to the point that even just publicly talking about Islamism is associated with significant risk of being subject to surveillance and repression.

Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the UAE probably represent the ones that are most hostile towards Islamism.
