I think the people of Saudi Arabia are oppressed by the "House of Saud" who are mostly just greedy corrupt criminals. I think that a warped interpretation which is called Wahhabi/Salafi is taught to children in those madrasses where they bob their little heads back and forth and become crazy jihadis is our problem. This belief is funded and spread mostly by Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, and more than ever before, Pakistan.Hmm do you think there is such an entity as "The Saudis" which includes all Saudis, or do you assert that beachnut implies that there is such an entity as "The Saudis" which includes all Saudis?
...
The jihadis directed their attention to the USA, Canada, Europe, etc... who have been propping up these dictitorial powers throughout the middle east while the people suffer.
I think those guys did 9/11 to get us to take notice of our foreign policies, but that was part of what was covered up by the Bush administration. They did hate us, but the didn't hate us for our freedoms.
Ten years later, after everything thats been going on over there, thanks to the lies of the Bush administartion, we will actually have a jihadi problem they said we had right after 9/11.

You answered my question two weeks ago, and I haven't acknowledged it yet. I apologize. I avoided this thread as it, predictably, was dominated not by constructive discussion of the subject matter. [ETA]I have to take that back. I am now through with reading 7 pages of this thread. Since I have SHC on ignore and a handful of debunkers as well, and since I skipped every reply to SHC, the thread is actually quite readable, with both sides being earnest and constructive, at least sometimes.[/ETA]
I agree with the tenor of what you say: We do have highly questionable allies who oppress their people and teach them scary things.
But you didn't really answer my questions, when you deleted some of them from the quote. Or maybe you did implicitly?
You present Saudi Arabia as a monolithic entity - all of Saudi Arabia, or at least all of its ruling elite, is united in Wahhabi/Salafi fundamentalism and the resolve to export terrorism.
I don't think this is a realistic picture. The top echelon, the King and most of his cabinet, while certainly representing this state religion, are very much friends with the USA on account of the great oil business partnership, and I believe there are factions within the Saudi elite (the House of Saud, plus some), who represent a true and militant opposition to the West, and thus, by extension, to the King.
Would you agree or disagree with that assessment?
