Saudi Ambassador attack...thwarted

As I said, give me a source that doesn't have a history of anti-Western activism and I'll consider it.

Jane's points you were picking on were her summary of what the experts quoted by CNN said, in case you didn't notice. What about SPIEGEL and NYT?

SPIEGEL said:
The strange story of a supposed Iranian plot to assassinate Saudi Arabia's ambassador to the United States has stirred up a lot of noise, but not much clarity, on both sides of the Atlantic. US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has called the bungled scheme a "flagrant violation of international and United States law" as well as a "threat to international peace and security." According to Vice President Joe Biden, the US is now "in the process of uniting world public opinion, continuing to isolate and condemn (Iran's) behavior." He ominously added that "nothing has been taken off the table."

That's strong language for a plot that a New York Times writer describes as "a rejected Quentin Tarantino script." US officials announced on Wednesday that they had caught a member of Iran's secretive Quds Force in the act of utilizing a used-car dealer in Texas named Manssor Arbabsiar as an intelligence asset for the special foreign actions unit. Arbabsiar, in turn, was allegedly trying to hire a member of a Mexican drug gang to assassinate the Saudi ambassador in Washington, DC. Arbabsiar was reportedly arrested late last month.

"The idea that they would attempt to go to a Mexican drug cartel to solicit murder-for-hire to kill the Saudi ambassador, nobody could make that up, right?" Clinton said this week in an interview with the Associated Press. Perhaps not, but experts wary of war talk from Washington say it's also uncharacteristically amateurish behavior for Iranian intelligence. [...]

That refutes nothing. I'm having trouble understanding the objection. This group did a supremely stupid thing, therefore the US is making it up?

Apparently the only ones who do stupid things are the NWO and their stooges.

Didn't take long did it?

Wrong thread dude.

He or she always does this funk and it becomes sort of aggravating after awhile. Deliberately lying and throwing out false allegations. It gets tiresome after awhile. Thankfully we have so many experienced and qualified members on this forum that I can easily neglect the ones who will simply attack people without providing evidence of their allegations.

May I see the evidence supporting your claim that Kuwait was "practically begging" to be invaded?

However, Iran has a fairly solid history of supporting terrorist activities and it is unlikely that they will admit to anything.

Irrelevant. The US also supports terrorist activities, in Iran, for example, and doesn't admit it. Both countries' politicians tell big lies.

Of course. History clearly shows that the way to control the world is by doing stupid things, by the numbers, like clockwork.

Why do you think Iran says and does so many stupid things? They're trying to take over the world, of course.

But maybe they're not quite stupid enough to take over the world. They're pretty stupid but it's a very big, very stupid world. They need to be at least as stupid as the Soviets were, and so far, they're just not cutting it.

There is an old Japanese proverb: "The best swordsman in the world does not fear the second-best swordsman; he fears the worst swordsman in the world, because there is no way for him to predict what that fool will do next."

So if you´re trying to outsmart smarties likes the CT crowd, you´ve got to be as dumb as you possibly can.

I think they´re stupid enough; they´re just not doing it on a big enough scale.

The government is apparently showing the evidence to the heads of several different countries,

We will see what those countries, few of which you would call "America's best buddies" have to say about the evidence. It is clear though that Obama wants to be as open as possible about this without compromising our intelligence-gathering operations. Also, the response seems to be asking for more sanctions, with no serious talk of invading or attacking Iran.

We shall see what plays out, but so far, this story has the ring of authenticity.

Obama wants to prevent Rick Perry from getting all of the Jew-money this presidential season--the likely reason for his standing up to Iran.

In Saddam's defense, (if we are to exclude the historical mumbo-jumbo) Kuwait was siphoning crap loads of their oil and practically harassing them. This certainly doesn't justify his behavior, but Kuwait practically begged for Saddam to invade.

You can add April Glaspie to the list of those who "practically begged for Saddam to invade."

Are the ones "faking" this plot the same people who sent a missile into the WTC 7 building?

Ray McGovern has no credibility, he's gone ideologue, he's a 9/11 truther. He wouldn't know evidence if it hit him in the face.

Please document what he actually believed happened on 9/11. I know he has been on stage with Truthers in the past, but from what I have seen he does not buy into the claim the government did it. He tolerates them but he is not one of them.

I believe everything this government says. Obama would never lie to us like Bush did. If nothing else, his lies have a more delicious candy coating.

A rogue faction might want to get the dominant faction into trouble by making the US angry at said dominant faction.

Yes.

I find this scenario likely, given the less than brilliant lad they hired on for this scheme, be it a bluff or not.

EDIT:

I just confirmed it. He was the guy who used to run the now defunct Gyro shop at a mall in Corpus Christi. He isn't just a used car salesman. When we used to visit my in-laws, we'd now and again have a Gyro at that shop. (this goes back to when the kids were young and I was still in the Navy ...)

That makes me, I think, some sort of third degree of Kevin Bacon linked to an assassin wannabe?
Well, me and a few thousand people who used to eat Gyros before that shop went under, like most businesses in that mall. (Sears has survived, most of the rest of them, not).

Guess the FBI will be by soon. I'll ice down some beer.

Another possibility would be that some junior guy in one of the factions organized this on his own, without adult supervision, in order to impress his superiors with his competence. Boy, did that ever backfire...
