Sarah Palin wants the Tea Party to take over the GOP

I support this idea. Let the Tea-Baggers take over the GOP. Complete the total destruction of the GOP. Turn the GOP into a party of bigots, conspiracy theorists, Birthers, Creationists, etc etc. :)

Perhaps a stupid question: Is the Boston Tea Party ( http://bostontea.us/ ) the same party that S. Palin refers to in her answer? If not, is there an official site for the Tea Party?
 
The complete takeover of the GOP by the Teabaggers would be a wonderful thing for Palin to behold. (Her only chance to be the brightest person in the room at a convention.)

Unless she brings Trig with her.

Palin, the TeaParty and the direction of the GOP is the triumph of George Wallaceism...all anger, outrage and grevience at perceived slights and elitism but little in the way of solution.

Agree on that is what Palin and the Tea Party are about, am not convinced the GOP as a whole is going down that path.
I hope not, because you need a GOP to balance the Dems.
And I also hope not because the would mean the end of the GOP and I do not want to see a De Fact One Party political system.
 
I can't believe even after having spent so much time in the spotlight now, and being babied and pampered by conservatives on fox news, she STILL looks like a complete dear in the headlights when she's being interviewed. Seriously, just look at her.. It's so ****ing scary to me that people actually think she should be president of ANYTHING.. short of the Mickey Mouse Club.

If the Republican party evaporated tomorrow and all that was left was the Democratic party you'd have an American right wing, centre and left wing that would look similar to the political spectrum in every other developed country on earth.

I didn't watch this video, but from statements Palin has made, I gather that she's suggesting that the Tea Party not run its own candidates but just seek to influence elections in favor of Republican candidates. Unfortunately, I think that is a good strategy for them.

I would rather they run their own candidates as a separate party and thus split the right.

I don't have a specific answer to your question except to note that I've observed several instances of various Tea Party groups trying to assert themselves as "the" Tea Party and say that the others are not. In threads where several of us have criticized the Tea Party as being extremist (racist, etc.) and have been challenged to provide evidence, any time we cite evidence, we're met with a No True Scotsman Tea Bagger argument.

Interestingly, when I used to view this page: http://www.officialchicagoteaparty.com, I used to get this text (from the cached page):

Similarly, there has been a fall-out between the Houston Tea Party and Dale Robertson (founder of www.teaparty.org, organizer of the Freedom concerts, and noted racist), with each claiming to represent the actual Tea Party.
 
Yes, a seperate new 3rd Party would be greatest for the Democrats.

But an ideologically split and wrangling Republican Party is also good for us.

Probably no one has answered because no one has an answer. The Tea Party movement is an unholy hodge-podge of separate groups with mostly common beliefs and goals.

Are they who Palin was referring to? Somewhat.

I don't think so and yes.

There was just recently a Tea Party convention held by one of the many groups that sprung up during the campaign. I don't recall which group, but I don't think it was the Boston one. Because they had the drive and ambition to actually hold a convention, they have become the 'Official' Tea Party. I am sure they have a website, but I personally have no interest in going there so I couldn't tell you what site is thiers.

You won't...outside of a "communist" regime where it is essentially enforced, IMO. If the GOP falls apart and becomes the neo-Wallaceite TeaParty plus GOP, I suspect that some sort of sane "unity-moderation" party will emerge in the middle between the current Dems and the Current GOP...sort of a Bayh/Lindsey Graham kind of free market but not crazy caucus.

Remember, if the GOP could survive FDR, you can count on its re-emergence as a saner conservative alternative in the future.
 
If there's one thing that irks me about this whole sorry saga, is the reputation of tea-drinkers going down the toilet. I enjoy a cuppa and am not a bit crazy.
