Santorum gone too far

This was my first thought upon reading the OP as well. The fact that I am so in line with your thoughts, though, is kind of scary, to tell the truth.

I have read many of your posts. Your mind is not a safe and comfortable place to be.

Maybe, but it's never boring. :D

"I mean, with the other guys, you can dig into their past and find at least some shred of rational thinking, even if they're cynically downplaying it now," Gallardo continued. "But I get the sense Santorum is speaking nothing but his completely unfiltered thoughts. I know it's weird to say this about a politician, but I sort of wish he were lying to my face at least a little."

"No question about it, what I'd have to say about the topic would absolutely terrify anyone with a conscience," said Santorum

:D God(s) bless the Onion.

Republicans have been trying to crusade against porn forever. Reagan was particularly active in that he actually continued efforts after he got elected...
Recall the "blue ribbon" panel he put together, headed by anti-porn crusader Edwin Meese?

The Meese Commission report is available online. It's actually pretty funny to read. My favorite bit was from the paperback books section, describing part of a novel called Tying Up Rebecca (NSFW):

Chapter Six. The little boy has taken Becky's clothes, and she gets cramps and cries for help. Patty hears her, pulls her out and tries to revive her with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, only she mistakenly blows into Becky's vagina instead of her mouth.

Hey, it could happen.

That moron has an interesting set of priorities.

People are out of work and it is going to take some serious attention to detail to repair the damage that twelve years of war has done to our military, and some fool thinks we need to hjire a few more porsecutors toi hunt down and destroy pron sites.

Freakin brilliant.

Did you type this one-handed?

Typed it while experiencing a migraine aura. Not sure whether it was from running out of coffee or having to contemplate what sort of mental abberation once induced people to elect a certain deranged relgious fanatic as a senator.

OFF TOPIC: Magnesium Chloride. Sold as "Slo-Mag" or (at least at walgreens) as a much cheaper generic you can buy from behind the counter at the pharmacy. My doctor recommended MgCl about 18 years ago, and since I have been taking it (6 per day, it's not really a large dose - pregnant women often get a HUGE shot (like 20X that much) of Magnesium Suflate while in labor) my migraines have gone from every couple weeks to once a year or so.

Theory of action is that many migraines are caused by spasms of blood vessels in the brain magnesium prevents or smooths out such spasms, and if the spasm does not persist long enough to cause brain swelling downstream, no migraine occurs.

I read the Messe Report once. My college library had a copy. And it was actual research for a paper I was writing.
Are you going to try and claim that you read it for the articles, because nobody's buying that.

You have to watch longer than 5 minutes.

It's been a while since I've looked at Internet porn but considering what's given away for free I wondered why anyone would part with their credit card number. Five minutes seemed about right.

Santorum had gone too far before this. IMO being anti-contraception is plenty. I can respect a principled pro-life stance but preventing unwanted pregnancies is a very mainstream ideal even among "conservatives."

As measured by the GOP base = my mom.

Try not to be so negative. Think of the job creation! I wouldn't mind being a highly-paid civil servant with great benefits whose job it is to examine pornography all day. "Hmmm, I don't know. I've been investigating Naughty Poolboys VIII: In Too Deep but even after viewing it nine times I can't decide if it's pornography or not. I'll need to see the next film in the series to gain context."

When I was in high school one of my best friends dad was on the Quebec Film Censorship Board and regularly watched all English language movies to approve them and/or chop out naughty pieces before they could be released in cinemas in the province.

He was a high up in the Anglican Church of Canada but later went wacko, left his wife and family, joined some sort of cult and went to live in the woods.

Cause? Effect? Co-inkdinky?

Santorum also tried to ban teaching evolution in schools by proposing a peculiar amendment to the No Child Left Behind Act.

He went too far when he sought office.

Which is what the article said, however the conclusion the Internet Pornography would actually go away is ridiculous.
Probably true, but he could make a lot of people very miserable by dragging them into court, seizing their property, shutting down their business, etc.

Kind of like the war on drugs. Drugs haven't gone away, but a lot of people are made very miserable by the war on drugs.

Well the articles were helpful with the paper. The other stuff was helpful elsewhere.
