I say death.

Otherwise a Napoleonic return from Elba is always possible, with the added feature of terrorism to free him.

As for the "timing" WRT the election -- It really isn't all about us.

The Democratic Party re-took the US House of Representatives last night.

Even the timing of the Saddam Hussein verdict couldn't save the Repugnicans.

That poor man sentenced to death for nothing. :cry1

How was it unfair?
I'm guessing it was hard for Saddam to get good legal representation, considering how his lawyers kept getting murdered. They were probably hesitant to make any real defense of their "client".

Saddam's Lawyer: Objection, your honor!
Judge: State your objection.
Saddam's Lawyer: We object to Saddam being referred to as a "pig". He is a jackal, not a pig.
Judge: Objection overruled.

Hmm. Not sure how the trial is unfair. That's like saying serial killers in the U.S. who go to trial won't have a fair trial, because normal people, and by a large majority, are completely disgusted by murder, especially serial murder. These normal law abiding people would be the judge, jury and lawyers either for or against the accused. That's a plausable notion, but highly unlikely, since you have to bring in the issue of ethics. I'm not saying man is inherently good, but I would like to think a majority of people trust the laws and will properly seek justice.

It comes down to faith in a fair justice system. Besides, even if Saddam was found innocent of genocide and the rest, he would have been killed on the street, or by a U.S. covert op, or picked off by someone else. Either way, justice, as I see it would have been served. :covereyes
