RYAN WHISLER, Yo-Yo Dowser

DOM, could you give me your fax # by e-mail so that I can call my doctor and ask her to fax the documents, she seems to be forgetting. She says she has it and would send it. Thanks. Dealing with busy professionals always takes presistance. I signed them well over a month ago. Thanks for saying so.

I don't know if It would be legal to post the affidavit. Giving out the MD's information to people could cause a lot of harrassment to the doctor. Asking James Randi or Jeff Waff if they have recieved #1 or 2 would be best. #2 is an assiciate of #1, so I'll find out if #2 has completed it and sent it yet. The last appt. with #1 I asked "did #2 complete the affidavit for me?". She said, #2 wasn't sure you would want her to. I said, "Yes I want here to please". Ahh! It takes a lot of polite persistence I tell you to get some people to budge. Thanks for letting me know DOM. I'll call her and leave a message ASAP.

Sure, Ryan. No problem. Check your email.

On the 13th, I guess I could fax one of the affidavits to DOM's fax. My Dr. has one in her office and DOM can tell you what it says if DOM is kind enough. I have two sent in now. I'm not sure if #2 is sent in yet, #2 is an associate of Dr. #1 and will have to find out for sure on the 13th. Right now I'm going to e-mail the JREF and see if they have recieved all three.

Also is RemieV taking over for Jeff Wagg. If so, does anyone know how I can contact here to see if they have all affidavits and where I stand on the challege. My time is limited on the library computer. Thanks

Do not expect any Challenge Rules to be changed. It will not happen. Not one iota.

If you need confirmation, ask a JREF Official: challenge@randi.org

If your application has been accepted before April 01, 2007, you will have a chance to proceed to the testing stage. If not, you won't: See #12.

If you need confirmation, again, ask a JREF Official: challenge@randi.org

Ryan Produces Signed Affidavit from Doctor

Hello folks,

I have some very interesting news. Yesterday I received a fax from the office of Ryan's doctor. It is a copy of a letter addressed to the JREF and dated October 20th. The body of the letter reads as follows--

To the James Randi Educational Foundation members:

I wish to inform you that, on 05/14/07, I have had the pleasure of witnessing Mr. Whisler's paranormal experiment, which was to show how he has communicated with a ball to have it move, while suspended from a string, in the direction Mr. Whisler willed it to go. I will verify that he was able to telekinetically will the ball to move in a chosen direction 50% of the time. He replaced his yo-yo with a ball(tennis).

Please let me know if you need any other information.

The letter is signed by the doctor and is notarized. I'm at work and will comment further when I get home this evening.

:boggled:

He probably is the only applicant ever to send in a real letter saying someone has witnessed a paranormal event. But is it too late? He sent in the claim in early 2006 more than 12 months ago.

Just to let people know.. the JREF knows nothing about this. Also, the letter says he can choose the direction 50% of the time. If there are only two directions... I'm a bit puzzled.

That's what I was thinking. Using only the power of his mind, he can get a ball on a string to do exactly what it would have done anyway. Amazing.

The wording used by the "psychiatrist" seems a little odd, doesn't it? Perhaps batman has more humor than we thought?

Once JREF has received said letter, it'll be easy to contact said person and get to the bottom of this.

It seems that the letter was written on 14th May - or at least started.

Now - correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't we at the back end of October?

I can be a slow writer on occasion, but....

I wish I had done this sooner. I googled up the doctor.

At www.ecol.us/ministers.php she is listed as a Reverend and President of this group. Their services "...include a healing meditation, lecture, inspirational music and a demonstration of psychic expressions for individual encouragement and spiritual upliftment."

At http://innerperceptions.com/teachers.html she's a "...Psychiatrist, ordained minister, reiki practitioner, teacher, lecturer, clairvoyant reader, astrologer."

On at least one occasion, her expert opinion was used to help determine legal action in a child custody case- http://www.state.hi.us/jud/ica22373sdo.htm

She shows up here, too- http://www.hawaii.gov/spo2/health/hcpo/search_results.php

Thanks, DAO.

Once JREF receives the doctor's letter and lets us know if batman's application is processed, we'll be all the wiser.

Still: :eye-poppi

Unfortunately, I suspect none of this really matters. Assuming she really is a qualified doctor, she is qualified to give an affidavit. The JREF never specified it have to be from a competent, woo-free doctor, indeed, it would be impossible to do so and still be taken seriously. It's actually one thing that's always surprised me though. Given the number of professionals with any number of woo beliefs, how come applicants have always found it so hard to actually get one to witness their abilities?
