What the deal with this TV "network"? They've given extensive coverage (by mainstream standards) to the Truth Movement and various conspiracy kooks, mostly from the left, over the past year and now they've had one James Stachowiak on at least four times in the last few months.

Here's "Stach" on RT's You Tube channel in a segment uploaded April 4.

Stachowiak is of some interest to me because he operates out of a suburb of my home town of Augusta, Georgia, and lives only a few miles from my mother.

(Not that I'm worried about mom, mind you. Stachowiak is mostly a danger to himself rather than the general public. Unconfirmed reports suggest he's fallen on hard time recently.)

As you would expect Stachowiak is a truther and has never met a anti-government CT he didn't' like. He also had the dubious honor of being expelled from We Are Change. What does that tell you if you're too nutty for that group? He was recently escorted out of a town hall meeting held by Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), one of the most right-wing republicans in congress but not right wing enough for "Stach."

"Stach" is in reality a militia wannabe who belongs to no organized group and is widely thought to be a agent provocateur within the militia movement. So much for "vetting" at RT.

Edit: Ooops! Should have been posted in the general CT forum. :o

Mods: Can this post be moved?

Russia Today, by giving coverage to nutjobs, have marginalised themselves from the mainstream. Ouroboros comes to mind, in the negative sense. All I ever hear from them is CTs. They're about as mainstream as Alex Jones.

I haven't watched the clip, because I don't like Youtube recommending nutters' videos for me based on my viewing history. ;)

I remember reading a New York Times article about the funding behind Russia Today a while ago. From what I can remember, the channel is partially funding through questionable government funding sources and anti-US government propaganda is highly encouraged. Thus conspiracy theorists, whose entire world view revolves around hating the US government for something, support the editorial mission.

You'll find them widely praised and acclaimed by the kook community in the US, but..no one else seems to watch them.

Which is why the CTers are spewing out COnspiracy Theories about the tragic Plane Crash which killed the Polish President which accuse everybody except the Russian Government.
With the proviso that there is no evidence whatsoever that this was anything but a tragic accident, if it were deliberate the Russian Government would be the most logical suspect.

Poland allowed a anti-missile base on their territory. if anyone did this, it was Russia.

but this was a tragic accident...helped out by huge pilot error, horrible weather, and putting too many VIPs on one plane.

RT was cite handy for using Neils Harrit's 'Tons and Tons of explosives" quote to make him look clownish and it's not a source Cters can criticize for being owned by the warfiteers like they try with Popular Mechanics.

RT was the only media outlet that I could find that gave coverage to last months twoofer conference in Pa. The coverage was surprisingly neutral they didn't appear to be promoting the 911 CT and they even showed one dufus who'd covered every single body panel on his car with twoof stickers.

Other than that, I haven't paid much attention to it.

ABC's Nightline gave it seven minutes. The truthers of course labeled it a "hit piece." They should be thankful for the attention.
