Rush Strikes Again!

A quick overview of rumors about Obama which are widespread enough to merit treatment on Snopes... presented in reverse chronological order......snipped for brevity, nothing else.
But it's difficult to look at that pattern of rumors and not see what's going on.

I wish all those links could be maintained in a copy of your message.
I'd love to send to the wingnuts that send me that crap one at a time, and repeat it. :(

You can always send them a link to the post.

This time, the sane people are not letting the corporatists take control of everything without a fight.

Well, he did try to turn as much of the government over to the military/industrial complex as he coud and he used some really sleazy lies to get us into two warts with no hope of an exit under his plan.

Bush and Cheney cooked the whole thing up in a secret meeting at the Dubya Compound.

Yeah. You have a problem with Olbermann getting it right for once?

Let's see:
Tied to big business - check
Motivates by fear of the other guy - check
Destroys civil rights in the name of safety - check
Demonizes a particular group for the sake of the nation - check
Espouses nationalism and exceptionalism - check

Yeah, Olbermann got that one right.
If these are the metrics we're using Obama fits at least the first four as well.

HEIL OBAMA!

I actually (mostly) agree with 1,3,5. But I don't see 2 and 4. Say more.

Really? You don't see Obama & Co prattling on about how Republicans want to destroy the foundations of American society? Medicare? Social Security? Unions? Women's rights? (And don't swoop onto that last one; no one's suggesting we take away women's rights and make them second class citizens -- there's a debate about abortion but that has nothing to do with the fact that it's a woman involved, just a legitimate moral/ethical question of when life begins.) Minority rights?

I could find many quotes for each of these topics from people in the administration who claim Republicans want to strip away everyone's rights in these areas.

And anyone who actually believes it is an idiot.

Ok, I'll bite, show me 5 from each area, Medicare, Social Security, Unions, Women's rights

Make sure they are:
1. From the Obama administration
2. State they want to "strip away everyone's rights". Not some people, not some rights.

Thanks.

Is pointing out facts the same as preying on fear?

McNabb did go on to have a great season in 2004, marred only by his listless play at the end of the Super Bowl, and performed at a high level for the next several years after that. So I think Rush was wrong about McNabb overall, and he was right about the media over-hyping black QBs in general (but not McNabb).

It doesn't matter anyway. Philadelphia is a sucky team with sucky players and a sucky fan base! Anyone who thinks this team is anything spectacular is only fooling themselves and needs a mental evaluation. <---this coming from a formerly proud resident of Philadelphia!

Yeah, I WANT to see those quotes.

Medicare?
Walker has proposed an end to medicare. Calling another program that includes vouchers to purchased health care insurance "medicare" is a joke. At 50 his plan would leave me without insurance.

Are you kidding? Given all of the efforts for "right to work" and all that's been done to strip bargaining rights?

Women's rights?
Oh you damn well better believe I'll respond to this. Mississippi is on the verge of closing the last abortion clinic in that state. Bills taking away women's rights are being forwarded at a record pace.

Yep, I want to see those quotes.
