Rush Limbaugh's Prediction

Your comment makes me ask this. Have you ever heard his program? Every so often he says something that makes me think.

I find that the people who relish in calling Limbaugh a Nazi are also the ones who later admit they never heard his radio program.

You could be very right in that assessment. On the other hand, I have never seen any poster on this board claim that Rush is a nazi. I have seen people on this board describe Mr. Limbaugh as things ranging from being a self-aggrandizing hypocrite to a money-grubbing cur more interested in lining his pockets than spreading the truth. Most of the people hurling those insults have listened to his program.

If you have evidence to the contrary (showing that people in this forum who give him the harshest criticism have not listened to his show) please provide it and I will reconsider my position.

The question goes beyond have they listened to him. How much have people listened too him? Have you hear 1 show or have you listened for weeks at a time?

Edit: Funny part of the Howard Stern movie. People who like him listen for 30 minutes. People who hate him listened for 2 hours.

I listen to Rush...no surprise there. He claims you need to listen to him for several weeks. I don't know about that.

I used to listen to Rush about once a month, on a lark. Back in his "environmental whacko" days in CA. Didn't listen to him for years, as his schtick got old. As soon as he hit TV, he started reading his own news clippings, he got less funny. Listened a bit in the late 1990's as he pursued his "shafting of America" agenda, but he just wasn't funny anymore, so I tended to listen to sports, sports talk, or blues, where I could find the latter.

I spent three years enjoying Imus in the Morning, which IMO kicks Limbaugh's butt with combat boots. We moved, I can't get him anymore. :(

After 9-11, I began to mix my radio listening habits. Two days a week NPR, two days a week the local AM radio station (the morning show covers lots of local news and local politics, which is fine, slime - o - tainment. They also give away tickets to local sporting events and shows. ) This station would segue into Glen Beck, who cracks me up. I would end up with some Rush about twice a week. (Still a blowhard, still not funny but once in 20) The last thing he did worth a crap was his spoof on Brokeback Mountain sequels:
Saddlesore Canyon, The Man Who Spanked Liberty Valance, and so on.

Hannity I used to listen to for the first hour after Rush, but the guy is so shrill and self important, and a freakin' New Yawker, that he's hard to listen to. For the past two years, I turn off/switch stations if I hear his voice.

Some evenings, when I run the kids about or are otherwise out, I'll see if Laura Ingram is being funny, or being a bitch. Her time slot is new. It used to be Steve Zabin, a funny sports talk show guy out of the DC area who was nationally syndicated. I miss him too. Laura's been a bitch a lot lately, so I switch to the pop station. Helps me keep up with what my kids are listening to, and what ads are targeting them.

On the weekends, if timing is right, I get my fix of Click and Clack, the tapper brothers, and in the evenings, Prairie Home Companion. That still makes me laugh.

I know Rush uses humor but I don't think anyone listens to him because he's funny. Of course Imus is better at that.

The best click and clack line I ever heard was when a caller was interested in buying a certain convertible and asked if it was too small, and Click or Clack said, "Well, if you poot da' ruff down yoower head room goes ta' da' moon!" (Boston accent)

I grew up in the 90's listening to Rush with my dad. I listened to Rush almost everyday from 2001-2003 (both on AM radio and on his website) and I read the Limbaugh letter almost every month. Have I been exposed to Rush enough to conclude that he is a conspiracy freak, liar, anti-american, anti-freedom blow hard?

Your poor ears. :(

To answer your questoin: yes.

Opinion: your over exposure probably wasn't a requirement for coming to that conclusion.

No, but you should be able to alert us of Bill Thompson's talking points a day before they are posted here so that I can have my links available beforehand.

FOCUS: Is it me, or does Rush just not have that bulldog mentality in going after the "libs" that he's always had? He seems a little sad on the inside...

Also, when he named Republicans he was "sick of carrying water for" (oops...I'm only quoting one of his lines. Bad WP.), did he name any names, or did he keep the implication that it was McCain?

Now I see where the source of your anger comes from. Unlike your father, my father would never listen to Rush, nor want me to listen to Rush. (He is strictly an NPR man.) Because of your father's insistance of your Rush-brainwashing, you perceive President Bush as a disfunctional father figure. I, on the other hand perceive my father as a disfunctional father figure.

Here's a great idea! Visit him on Thanksgiving, bring a few beers, and see if you can reconnect through political dialogue. :boggled:

Hmmmm, maybe the NFL marathon is a better format. :p Bring the beer, in any case. :)

Are Da Bears on the Thanksgiving line up? I am pretty sure the Cowboys are.

Looks like they play New England:eek: the following Sunday. But I'll still be visiting.

I have probably on and off since 1991 or so. Overall probably over 500 hours of Rush. I don't listen to him so much anymore though.

Hear, hear! Such a confession as his should be in the form of a detailed recitation of the facts of his wrong doing. But if you listen to and watch Rush sputter his water carrying moment, you see it's not done at all in the spirit of conciliation or even awareness of what it means for a political radio personality to admit to his audience that he's been systematically lying to them. No, he actually is whining his complaint about how they made him stick his neck out. Sick. Psycho.

But Rush Limbaugh made a prediction yesterday. He said that the media isn't going to be so harsh on the government for the next two years because they want to paint a rosy picture now that the Democrats are the majority so that Hillary will become president.

oh yeah because they've been sooooo tough on the bush administration

I can't count the number of times i have watched people getting interviewed and thought "where is the outrage? why isnt anyone questioning the judgement of these people?", it was so friendly compared to the media scrutiny that clinton was under for just about everything he did.

When my father read my recent Letter to the Editor, he really didn't care about the content so much as he was gravely concerned that I wrote "As a long-time Republican...who will likely not vote that way this year or in 2008."

His only comment was: "I just don't know how you're going to vote. Or why."

Still, he's perhaps the smartest man I've known (and, no, that's not sarcasm)

I suppose.
