RSL in hospital

Well, tiny improvements every day. It's going to be a long haul. He keeps his eye/eyes open longer. He squeezes my hand. He's still paralyzed on the left side, but I have hope that will change eventually. Edit: he is being weaned off the ventilator. It should be removed tomorrow or Saturday. Janie has started a board for him to use when he's able. The doctors are getting nods yes or no from him. Honestly, I think he has surprised them!

Tiny, but very significant improvements this early. I will be interested to hear what happens after he's off the vent.

Still try not to get too overwhelmed by what lies ahead, Susan!

You don't suppose his skepticism was in the beard the way Sampson's strength was in his hair?

Now THAT would be tragic! :D
 
I haven't read the forum for some time until tonight, and I was shocked to read this. I have much respect and admiration for Mr. Lancaster, and the work that he does. He, and his family, are my prayers, and I'm glad to see that he is improving.
 
We may not have prayer...but Skeptics have hope and support.

I can only speak for myself but please, don't be stressed out about this forum. We care deeply about Robert but your well being is very important. We want as much as we can get but we'll take what we can get. You come first.

Thank you so much. It means so much to me. It's odd but I kinda thought that I was the only one that admired Robert as much as I did.

Be well. Robert needs you and I'm so greatful he has you.

I'm checking your update thread every day and it's great to see all the improvements, no matter how small. Thank you for devoting part of your day to keeping us informed.

Here's another shameless plug for cards and letters, too. I'd like to go to Robert's P.O. box and have to take the contents out in a mailbag.

I love each and every one of you.

Thanks for all the updates, Susan. Keep 'em coming! The RSL threads are the first ones I read when I come to the forum, and it's great hearing the good news.

It seems, just about every time Robert would post an article at SSB, it would be a winner - with his usual style; clear, concise, patient, polite. And whenever I wrote to him saying so, I usually ended up saying, "Robert, you the man!!" Well... Susan, you the ma'am!

Wow. I'm almost speechless. I just caught up on this thread today. I had NO idea that RSL was in the hospital.

Truly....Susan, if I'd known yesterday, I wouldn't have wasted my birthday wish on me. I would have wished for Robert to have a speedy and full recovery. He is a truly wonderful individual and it's a darn shame that this had to happen.

Please count me among Robert's admirers, and I hope and wish that things keep going well.

My thoughts are with all of you.

I sent a card on Friday, but I'm not sure how long it will take to get there from Toronto. So there is at least one more card on the way (although now I wish I had written more in it).

Don't give up: slow and steady wins the race.
 
The progress has been *extremely* encouraging this early on; I am glad of that.

Keep the good news coming.

I am so glad to hear about Robert's progress! Sorry about the loss of part of the beard. It will be back, along with the man. :)
