RSL in hospital

Splendid news, Susan! Now if RSL accidentally winks at the nurses, give 'im a bit of a break. :)

I'm very sorry to hear that. I have enjoyed the SSB web pages and I realise it takes significant effort to keep them updated. I hope for a speedy recovery. - Steve Roberts, Melbourne, Australia

Melbourne? Hmmm. You wouldn't happen to know one Caroline Evans aka Kaz Demille Jacobsen etc? Never mind. I assume it's a pretty big town.

That IS very welcome and heartening news.

It still sounds like a very hard road ahead for you and everyone.

Try not to worry too much about the future. At this point, it's probably better to deal with one day at a time.

Best wishes, and thanks for the update!

Yeah, Joe, I'm tryin' the one day at a time thing. Pretty frustrating for a woman who always has to have a plan.

That's fantastic!!!! Great news!!!

I hope that Robert's home with you before long and he and you can start on the real road to recovery.

Thankfully, it's possible to near-completely recover from a stroke. I'll be thinking of you every day!

Mrs "Better Half"

Thank you so much for making such an effort to keep us updated, heartened and happy with all this great news!
We may be only virtual companions, but it means a great deal to know that things are going so well for this early stage of Robert's recovery.

Here's to more of the same!

Yay for good news!!!

If I were a prayin' sort of guy, I'd be doing that for you. As it is, all my hopes...

By the way, you might wanna consider some kind of edit to the opening post, so that people who find this thread for the first time are aware that there's good news after the first several pages...

I don't think it's insignificant that three lurkers at JREF Forums have posted for the very first in this particular thread.

Great news on Robert's progress Susan.

I've been away from the forums a few days and only heard the news today on the Skeptics Guide podcast. I'm so glad there's some better news here!

Get well soon, Robert!

It took my a while to work through your negations there, but:

Indeed it's not!

Good idea, Rob, but I don't see an edit button on the post - or any of my posts, for that matter. I know I've found one before, right next to the "quote" and "reply" buttons. Is there another way to edit?

BTW this is so cool that people from all parts of the world are concerned about Robert. And I, too, think it's significant that "lurkers" are posting good wishes. I'd love to hear from more!

Drop me line whenever you want your OP updated and I'll edit it whatever you send me.

(And glad to hear there's been some progress.)

No, no, no, you have that entirely backwards. Your husband is "so cool". We just care because of it :)

Susan, waiting is the hardest part.

Healing takes time. Right now I expect Roberts body is going "whoa...did anyone get the number of that truck that hit me? Think I'll take another nap...."

It's so good to read that things are going in the right direction. It's very encouraging.

P.S. There is a whole lot of praying going on - in a few different religions. I'm sure each would like to take the credit you're taking for science, cgallaga. I am of the mind that it all helps.

In that case I can admit what I was going to just keep to myself, that my semaphoring boy scout avatar is actually sending repeated prayers to the Boy Scout God (the very one I swear aloud every week to do my best to do my duty to), using the same principle as a Tibetan prayer flag or prayer wheel.

I'm sure, though, that the Boy Scout God, being mostly adept at First Aid, is grateful for the help of all the scientists and doctors who have trained themselves to Be Prepared to treat this kind of illness.

Please, don't forget (as others have said) to take care of yourself and pace yourself. This becomes more important as recovery goes on; you can run on love and adrenaline for a week but not indefinitely.

All my best wishes,
Myriad

A feeding tube, eh?

Tell him (when appropriate) that there are much easier ways to lose weight!
