Cont: Roe v Wade overturned - this is some BS part II

My purple state narrowly went for Trump but on the same ballot there was a citizen's initiative that's actually more permissive than Roe v. Wade. It passed by a much larger margin.
Heh. In red state Missouri there was a vote to amend the state constitution to permit abortions and it passed. The Republican-dominated legislature simply undid it.

The crazy part is the voters will vote for those same people again, despite them just overriding their vote.

Weird. I would have assumed that both Sir Brain Worm and Lord Dampnut have benefitted from free abortion enough times to make them its staunchest defenders. But then this will not inconvenience any rich people, of course; the lives that will be wrecked are not important lives, just expendable ones.

Despite the various claims and promises of the Usual Suspects in this and the previous threads USAian women are being persecuted by the baby protecting right.

Notable is how the article alludes to treatment of fetuses as legal persons. This is what I have been saying all along. This leads to this going to the SCOTUS in a few years where 6:3 (barring court changes) will say "Geez, we really, really, really want to leave it up to the states, but between executive orders establishing personhood, various pieces of legislation doing the same and hundreds of prosecutions premised on attacks on unborn legal persons, our hands are tied by such an overwhelming amount of precedent and we must ban abortion at the federal level on 14th Amendment grounds" (that is, unless Republican legislators get ahead of the SCOTUS & legislate a federal ban themselves —though it's going to take a colossal level of voter suppression & electoral fraud or some unforeseen black swan type event for Republicans to be able retain enough power after the midterms to be able to do something like this).

"The report indicates there are far more cases of miscarriage criminalization than have made national headlines. In one widely covered case in late 2023, police charged an Ohio woman with felony abuse of a corpse after she miscarried into a toilet. In another, earlier this year, a Georgia woman who had been found bleeding and unconscious after a miscarriage faced one count of concealing the death of another person, and one count of throwing away or abandonment of a dead body. The charges against both women were ultimately dropped."

Hardly worth mentioning really, everyone knows it's the process that is the punishment.

Yep. Name-calling aside, I got this one way wrong.
Well actually, I wasn't so much referring to you as I was to certain posters who insisted that pregnant woman had nothing to fear, and need not take any personal security precautions to keep from being surveilled. I was more thinking along the line of things like tracking of period apps as well as cellphone locations and conversations, than ANPR cameras.

Huh, I was assured this would never happen. Huh.
Something similar happened during the Obama administration too. Forget women, the doctors at that sausage fest were outnumbered by "religious leaders". Jon Stewart had a rant about it on The Daily Show. It was a House Oversight Committee hearing on the ACA contraception mandate.
