I thought this interesting.

http://news.com.com/2030-1041_3-5159170.html

But I am trying to find articles or pictures of the Japanese robots, or are they called automatons, that have human form and near exact human movements, eg climbing up stairs.

It's amazing to think that the Japanese is so far ahead of everyone else in this technology and its use.

Thanks for the sites.

I thought this topic would have been interesting to some but alas, it's not. :(

BOD :" "Biomimicry is a really, really bad idea..."

Your right there but their planning to Market these things. Which do you think sells better a clear plastic bag full of cereal where you can see the product or a opaque box with pretty colors and type that actually costs more to produce then the product their selling?

That is the one I remember seeing on tv, climbing stairs. I think these robots are amazing. Especially the human like ones. Too bad they are not an everyday household appliance that we could program to do the cooking, cleaning, washing etc.;)

I can think of one good reason to mimic humans--so that the robots can use the same tools and equipment as a person would. Saves money on new infrastructure.

True, anthropomorphic bots do have their place. They'll do very different jobs than tuna-like bots.
